Popular Post Gibbo
Could be interesting 😁 Double Talkin 'Jive: True Rock and Roll Stories from the Drummer of Guns N' Roses, the Cult, and Velvet Revolver Cocaine smuggling, shoot-outs, murder and never-ending decadent parties. Matt Sorum's Double Talkin 'Jive could almost be described as the autobiographical equivalent of the film Blow. But rather than becoming one of the United States 'premier drug smugglers, Matt Sorum becomes a world famous drummer in bands such as Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver, and the Cult. Sorum dropped out of high school to become a drummer, but turned to selling pot to support himself, later transitioning to smuggling large quantities of cocaine. When Sorum is suddenly given the chance to play in the Cult, he is finally able to make a living as a drummer. He is asked to replace Steven Adler in Guns N 'Roses the very next year. With that, Matt's life is transformed. He is involved in the creation of two of rock's most legendary albums: Use Your Illusion 1 and 2. But, not long after that, Axl starts turning up at the recording studio more and more sporadically, sometimes not at all, and during the following world tour, serious problems emerge. Matt recounts in keen detail how he and the band stagger toward their downfall. Matt and his Guns N 'Roses band mates Slash and Duff McKagan form Velvet Revolver with Dave Kushner, and their 2004 debut record, Contraband, tops the Billboard charts. When singer Scott Weiland suddenly leaves the band, Matt steps in as drummer for Motörhead during their US tour, and then starts his own all-star band, Kings of Chaos. During his time as a professional drummer, Matt battles alcohol and coke addictions, but meeting his girlfriend, Ace Harper, helps him manage to go clean. The couple marry in Palm Springs in 2013 and, just two years later, Matt becomes the drummer in super group Hollywood Vampires. Matt Sorum's autobiography, written with writer duo Leif Eriksson and Martin Svensson, avoids all the usual rock biography clichés. There is no posing here — just a brutal honesty which involves daring to be reckless, even toward yourself. https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/164160154X/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=gunsnrosesfra-21&creative=6746&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=164160154X&linkId=ecd983691700611c8a325e5cf399f235 11

lilacmess
So April 2020 it is. I'm most interested in his take on his time with Tori Amos, but I doubt there will be much of it https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d5/Y_Kant_Tori_Read_Promo_Picture.jpg 2
LovelessNL
Lol he was in Vampires for like two days, right? Nevertheless, probably a must read for any GnR nut.
Tourettes2400
I was wondering when he was going to finally get a release date it has been changed a few times. I will definitely be getting this one to add to my GN’R book collection. Also here is the US preorder https://www.amazon.com/Double-Talkin-Jive-Stories-Revolver/dp/164160154X/ref=mp_s_a_1_3? Tom2112
He should go on a book tour with the guy from the black crowes. All the spurned drummers.

I'm an Oasis fan- the original drummer, Tony McCarroll is one of the great 'spurned drummers' - he wrote a book about it, which gave me quite a few laughs. He likes Liam a lot but DESPISES Noel. Probably not a page goes by where he doesn't have a dig! A great read! 2

Popular Post soon
Most rockers just need one author to assist them to write their books. Drummers need two. 1
themadcaplaughs
I'd be interested just to read if he talks about 1994-1997. Slash and Duff wrote about that period briefly in their books, but each of them had one foot firmly out the door during that time, so we did not get a lot of details. Sorum actually spent a good bit of time jamming with Dizzy and Paul Tobias during that time. He probably has some cool stories to tell.

He spoke a bit about that time before and basically said it was hazy because he was off the rails in "Hollywood lifestyle". I'm sure he could talk about a few things, but I think we can safely say this will be a Axl burial when it comes to anything related to GNR; and if that was his experience then of course he should write it. Pity we didn't get one final YCBM or November rain performance with him and Axl though... even after that brief blurb you can count Matt out of any future involvement.

Little Earthquakes was brilliant, Especially Silent All These Years. It's one of those songs that hits you and is moving.
megaguns1982
I’ll probably buy it then skip to the middle and read the guns stuff, then it will go on the shelf never to be touched again

Chester 524
I really hope he talks about the dynamics of the relationship between him and Axl. seems like neither can stand the other. I'd love to hear what it was like to produce Poe though. ok, not really but I thought there were a couple of cool songs there. you think he will talk about the NITL exclusion at all? if so, I doubt we will ever see him on a gnr stage again.
