(It was hard to find the last pic, uh) Ps: Scraped is from the year 2000. WINTER 2008 HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Guns n'Roses new album, Chinese Democracy, has finally seen the light of day. And with it are two songs that Rob and good friend Pete Scaturro helped create, way back in 2000. Yes, in the year 2000. Pete and Rob produced the tracks "Sorry" and "Shackler's Revenge" with literal guitar hero Buckethead and former Gn'R and Primus drummer Brian "Brain" Mantia, with Axl ultimately adding his voice. We were surprised as anybody...and look forward to our free can of Dr. Pepper. -http://www.meetbeaton.com/news/- Am I missing something here? This post doesn't mention Scraped, only Sorry and Shackler's Revenge (which we already know that were instrumentally written in 2000). Popular Post SoulMonster
Added another chapter: JANUARY-DECEMBER 2011: TOURING THE AMERICAS It deals with the entirety of 2011. The band toured the Americas - first Latin America and the North America after the settlement with Azoff - Duff released his biography and played with the band again, Peter Katsis came and went, and Team Brazil took the reins.
SoulMonster
Still working on the next chapter which will cover the entirety of 2012. In the mean time I have started a twitter account where I tweet about new interviews and articles added to the GNarchive at Appetite for Discussion, and I would think some of you guys would find it interesting: https://www.twitter.com/appetite_4 We will be adding lots of new interviews that we have unearthed and transcribed in the upcoming weeks so that twitter account will be the best source keep updated on that. Popular Post SoulMonster
New chapter added: (41) 32. JANUARY-NOVEMBER 2012: EXTENSIVE TOURING AND A LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY (a-4-d.com) It covers most of 2012, which for GN'R was mostly about touring (including the band's first residency in Las Vegas) and creatively explaining why the band wasn't working on or releasing new music. The band members, as usual, had lots of side projects going, including everything from DJ ending bullying to Bumblefoot producing other artists. A lot happened with the alumni, though, with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Slash releasing his first album with Kennedy and the Conspirators, Matt helping to form the supergroup Kings of Chaos, and Steven founding Adler (to signify he was now over GN'R and would focus on original material instead of just touring Appetite). EDIT: And remember to follow us on twitter for updates on new interviews added: https://www.twitter.com/appetite_4 Edited March 28, 2022 by SoulMonster

Popular Post SoulMonster
Finally added a new chapter, covering Dec 2012 to Dec 2013. Perhaps not the most exciting period in the history of GN'R (like the previous year), but cracks were starting to appear. Reading between the lines -- or in the case of Bumblefoot, just reading -- it is clear band members were getting frustrated with the lack of work on new music and side projects took up more of their time. As for Bumblefoot, he argued that he was the only one telling the truth and eventually tried to force the band into accommodating his solo plans, which resulted in a little spat with DJ. And on the topic of DJ, he was hospitalized with nicotine poisoning (can it get more DJ?) and married his girlfriend. We, the fans, did get to hear "new" music, though, when Going Down leaked in Nov 2013, an old song that the band had been working on. As for the alumni: Slash had started working on his new record (to be released in 2014), Steven had put Adler on hold while he battled with addiction again, Duff - ever so industrious - toured with Walking Papers and Matt released a surprising album, both in terms of genre and quality. I have also added posts for each GN'R song now, scattered through the history section. The contents are mirrored from the song database. I have put these posts either after the show where the song was debuted live, when it was chronologically leaked, or when it was released. It makes sense, I think. You can read the new chapter here: (23) 33. DECEMBER 2012-DECEMBER 2013: MORE TOURING, BUMBLEFOOT IS FRUSTRATED (a-4-d.com) Things take a bit more time now because many of the interviews are video/audio and needs transcribing before I can include them, which is a drag. I focus on transcribing interviews with guys who were in the band at the time, and not with alumni. I will revisit those interviews and have them transcribed when the first edition of the history section is completed (i.e when I have come to the present time). And also, if you want to read new interviews as we transcribe and add them to our database, follow me on twitter: @appetite_4. I tweet now and then about particularly interesting interviews, many of which have been unearthed by us (like @Blackstardoing some time travelling to early versions of the Internet to scour for lost interviews or me buying old magazines off eBay containing unknown articles and interviews). 6

That's the plan. It is very dense and not very readable, but the idea is to present all the things that have actually been said and then it is up to others to perhaps read between the lines and come up with their combined version of the history of the band. It must be a gold mine for anyone wanting to write about the band. In the next edition, when I am finished going through articles up to the present, I intend to go over each chapter and write a bit more between the quotes, to make it more readable and explain contexts of the quotes, and also add more images and links to other chapters. It will be good.

I like that aspect of it.

Popular Post SoulMonster
Sorry guys, but no new chapter today. It simply takes much longer now because so many interviews need to be transcribed. Still, I have gone over the very first chapter, dealing with the formation of GN'R all the way to the June 6, 1985, show at The Troubadour, and if you haven't read this in a while there is bound to be lots of new content: 03. 1984-1985 - THE BEGINNINGS (a-4-d.com) I have moved quotes and sections around, added new subtitles, added new quotes, added pictures, written a bit more explanatory text and fixed a bunch of typos and grammatical errors. This is probably how I intend the entire history section to become, with still a heavy focus on quotes from band members and important others, interspersed with some explanatory comments from me and relevant images.

Popular Post SoulMonster
New chapter covering 2014 is out: (18) 34. 2014: END TO THE NUGNR ERA; BUMBLEFOOT CLANDESTINELY LEAVES THE BAND (a-4-d.com) This was the year NuGNR ended with their last show at the band's second residency in Las Vegas. Bumblefoot left the band after this show, too, although it wasn't officially announced (still, it was pretty evident from Bumblefoot's interviews and messages). The band also released Appetite for Democracy, a concert film based on a show from the band's first residency, in 2012. Better late than never. With the band going on a break after the residency, band members hoped Axl would spend time finishing the next album with indications that things were finally moving forward in that regards, including Richard stating that Axl was in the studio recording new vocals and Dizzy saying people were finally looking over the material they had already recorded. Even Axl himself would say that they were now seriously looking into this, implying that they hadn't seriously looked into it before when all focus had been on extensive touring. Duff replaced Tommy for quite a few show while Tommy did shows with the reunited Replacements, fueling discussions on whether this could herald a full reunion. As for the other alumni, all was as usual: Slash released another record, Steven spent time in rehab, and Izzy was nowhere to be seen.
rumandraisin
Brilliant, bit of saturday morning reading to go with my coffee. rumandraisin
In this era, actually from 2011 onwards I'm shocked at how much Bumble got away with. The amount of winging and essentially slagging the band off publicly he got away with is pretty crumby seeing as he was getting paid and he stuck around, presumably for the money. I've always found him shady.

Should he have been saying anything. Considering he was an employer of Axls and pretty lucky in that regard to travel the globe X amount of times over and be on the album? To spend at least 3 years moaning publicly just seemed sad and embarrassing to me. Surely this must've got back to TB and Axl.
rumandraisin
What's interesting as well is do the members never learn, Dizzy still saying "hopefully new music will be out really soon" in late 2014. Did the CD process teach them nothing.
