The concern is now his state of mental health, which is ABSURD! I kinda am, by the end of nightrain he was clearly trying to go for rasp and just couldn't. Plus all night long he was loosing control over his high register, but could not switch to his mid/low range, it was odd but familiar, probably physical damage at this point, but im not a doctor. Silkworms was crazy indeed BTW, go pitman !!!! Edited August 4, 2021 by batatadoce
Popular Post Gunsdrummer63
23 minutes ago, Tom-Ass said: It really was a great show/experience.. Not perfect but was a fucking blast and better than the last time I saw them in 2017. I still wish they would shake up the song order a bit. There are songs I wish they would have played that will probably creep up later in the tour like PTU, Locomotive and Think About You.. Out Ta Get me... But this was still only the second show. It is what it is.. Axl didn't sound great but you can see he was trying and the crowd was picking him up the whole show by singing a long loudly and I think he appreciated that. It seemed that every time he had a crack or wtf moment Slash would come right in and pick him back up with a killer solo or lead. They ended up packing the seats somehow and it looked pretty close to a full house and people were singing to nearly every song. I like the new Jungle Intro and was happy that Axl worked the "You know where the fuck you are" back into it. I was stoked to see You're Crazy and Dead Horse.. Slither isn't what it could be but still cool to see.. Even though I am not a fan of NITL Rocket Queen it was still great and the crowd participation makes it all good. I went to grab a beer and take a piss the song before it before it so I missed the Fortus intro which worked out perfectly Say what you want about KOHD and I agree!! I would love to see a throwback version but people were still singing a long loud the whole time.. Not just the but chorus but the verses too. AND Axl brought back his signature "Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey" at one point which I thought was fucking awesome. It is the little things. Nothing too exciting about Absurd.. It only took me a minute to realize it was a song from 20 years ago that I didn't like then.. Was still cool to see something different with that voice and sounded better than TIL, Better and all that stuff. Civil War and November Rain were great.. I really do think the tempo has been adjust on some of these songs which is great.. They feel much more loose.. I am sure Axl sounded Mickey on NR but again the crowd singing every word with him made up for it. Bummer about the one song encores but I am sure that will change as the tour moves on.. Slash was fucking great and people were showing him love the whole time... After the Hershey show I was a bit weary walking into this one but it ended up being a great rock show and it appeared that fun was had by all. This times 1000! I saw them in Hartford in 2018(?)and this blew that away. On the T home a few others also were at the Hartford show and agreed. I took 3 videos of various songs as tests for a theory and have concluded Axl sounds incredibly different live than in videos. There's something the audio when recording picks up that you can't hear live, but a large majority of the mickey came from the videos taken. I too had to take a few minutes to figure out what absurd was, not complaining but not my cup of tea. I understand its historical significance however and the fact that show #2 yielded a new song is surprising. Axl was in an incredible mood. By far the most I've heard him speak since the reunion. He was smiling, moving and dancing more, and interacting with the crowd much more than expected. If anyone was not interested in going this tour I'd say you should go. Axl was out to make this show better than Hershey and he blew me away. By the end he was tired and out of breath, but he still brought it when he needed to. Sure, there were parts that weren't great but I expected way worse and my expectations were blown away. He brought it last night and redeemed himself nicely. Slash was on fire, his tone was incredible and the best I've heard it recently. Frank actually sounded great too, and I'm very anti Frank. The songs slowed down were great for the band, but axl was still rushing through things at parts. overall, and incredible night and great show. Don't pay too much attention to videos because they overdo the mickey IMO. His voice, if in the clean vocals largely sounded strong. Only gripe would be sometimes he couldn't control the rasp and it would just happened and he would have to back off a bit. Again, great show, shorter sets seem to be a good thing at this point (even though I wish they played Locomotive)!

Waclimino
That was fucking epic. Was just listening to both studio versions of Silkworms for the past several days and now they have played it. Live, for the first time in almost 20 years, with three guitarists that probably didn't have anything to do with its creation. Guns N' Roses' thought processes are... Fascinating. 2020_Intensions
CANNOT believe they did Silkworms .... WOW .... Kinda sucks the "What can I do?" chorus has been replaced with just "Absurd!" because that has always been my favorite part of the song .... Man I'm really tempted to get tickets for tomorrow night's show now and take a drive up to North Jersey .... Just saw them on Saturday in Hershey but I still got the itch and if they debut something else I definitely want to be there

As a matter of fact during Absurd (gotta get used to calling it that) Axl and Fortus looked at each other with big smiles on their faces . You could tell they were both thinking “I can’t believe we’re doing this!” EDIT: this post was meant as a reply to someone else. My bad. This too, Axl did this a few times. He interacted with frank once or twice laughing and smiling, he did something with duff at one point where they shared a smile mid song. Nothing really with slash but I definitely noticed this with Fortus 7 minutes ago, FabioRoses said: Curfew has anything to do with covid restrictions? city rules. He seems to be struggling with his higher register, which going by the rehearsals in Mexico, is what he uses to sing Hardschool. I hope we do get it at some point soon, definitely. AppetiteForDestruction
With the tech now, I bet the band has tons of reworked songs, just trying to spiff up axl's vocals like shadow of your love.

Maybe if I hear the latest studio leak again, I'll like it more? Doubtful, but maybe? Lol The Village version leaked in 2019, and it is older, from 1999/2000 or so. A newer version leaked in 2018 or so as mentioned, it was very close to what we heard live yesterday, but with Bumblefoot's lead guitar mixed in one channel. We don't have a leak of the 2001 version they played live, only fan-made remixes, done quite well actually. I'd love to hear this version with Buckethead, over all else, along with OMG. The Village version has the intro they played in 2001. The 2013 leak has the intro (or similar) to the one they played live in 2021. Overall I like the newer version, but wish they had Josh on drums and kept Buckethead on it, and the chorus too. UYI4
Maybe they downloaded the leaks and he was like oh yeah this song. Seriously you never know. Lol. I liked the 2001 chorus a bit better, but even that chorus didn’t sound finished if you watch the rio version or even the HOB one it’s almost like it’s not super confident. Still cool that they did something beyond the same songs they’ve been doing. Not new to many of us, but new to the masses. Very cool, either way small victory. UYI4
I’m still really curious as to how many CD and CD demo songs were part of slash/duff sessions from mid/late 90’s before they quit. Like I wonder if they ever had heard them prior to quitting or skeletons of them. Hardskool is one that to me sounds very old school UYi GNR to some extent aside from what you can tell is a buckethead solo.
DTJ80
It would be cool - if they used that spot in the setlist for random stuff like this….leaks/never played studio stuff and rotate it every gig so you have no idea what you will get……you might get lucky and get Perhaps or not so lucky and get My World….🤣 NOTE - I’d love to hear My World live just once….Melissa with the sounds and Axl rapping away 🤣🤘
