How Guns N’ Roses hellraiser Axl Rose saved legendary rock band AC/DC and spurred them onto new album

2016 really was an amazing year for GNR and Axl fans in general.

From 2014 to fronting two of the biggest bands on the planet. Unreal.

Also Axl's vocals with ACDC really cannot be overstated.

I saw Axl with AC/DC in 2016 and then with GNR nearly exactly a year later.

The difference between Axl's voice between the two shows was night and day. Admittedly, AC/DC songs are far easier for Axl to sing, but good god was it a huge difference.

I hate hate, the axl appearance stuff. But fuck. how much better does he look with his hair longer than the disaster he has at the moment. I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon. Axl please grow your hair, you look fucking ace!

And lose the gut. With his money he could easily get a nice head of hair instead of what he has going on now.

Axl couldn't save his own band even if his life depended on it. Let alone releasing a new album.

That’s just the thing, his life doesn’t depend on it. He doesn’t care, he’s done enough to rest on his laurels indefinitely. And the reality is, he could get away with it just due to how epic the bands prime was.

Yeah, I dunno about the article.  Axl definitely did help them out in a bit of a tight spot though and helped rehab his own image a bit.  I think ACDC was always going to release a new album tho, whether with Axl or with Brian Johnson recovering.

Not that it was a great hope, but I thought if Axl went on to do an album with ACDC then it might help the chances of a GNR album just by virtue of Axl getting more positive press and whatnot.

Grow back the porn tache.

The 12- 2014 with the long hair, porn tache and white hat , had a southern rock kind of  look, i thought it suited him. But it gave off the "career wind down mode" vibe.

Maybe the acdc, having some of the foo fighters play,  and billy joel jams, went a fair way of redeeming himself.

I reckon there will be alot of bands looking to tour when touring can resume and will be a punters dream in terms of who to see that gnr will simply not ( they will try) and ask for the same ridiculous ticket prices of before without a major drawcard. It has to be supporting a new album. Hoping that means changing the setlist drastically.

Agree, looked like a man who knew he wasn't at his peak but he was ok with that. It had character.

He was toast by 2014, so he had to give in and ask Slush and Doof to save what was left of his fat ass.
