All the momentum the band had coming off of 2016 has completely evaporated at this point; unless Axl wants to be touring casinos over stadiums sooner rather than later, more needs to be done to draw in new fans to care about Guns N' Roses.

Nah. Axl's complete inability to release new music is what killed GN'R.  The pandemic only put the brand on hold for a bit. They'll get back to going through the motions and overcharging for show

New music was never coming in 2020. A live debut of Hard School was all we were ever going to get and that's only because it leaked.

Died a long time ago.

Whilst I understand the lessoning of AFD/UYI content would be a turn off....surely if there was new material to play that can only be seen as a good thing?

Otherwise the opinion that they truly are a nostalgic act is true.

Would you not want to hear new stuff?

Only if it's good, and not just good, worthy of standing alongside Jungle, Nightrain etc...

Apparently so. There were stories he bullied Bucket and was just generally unpleasant (I imagine out of jealousy), which if true is unforgivable. As "the general" he should have recognised Bucket as the core talent and protected that asset.

Any specifics or..?

There's a couple old threads regarding the topic

tl;dr, Tommy Stinson and other characters in the story like Del James were a dick to alumni like Buckethead, Brain and Bumblefoot.

Not just draw new fans to care....but keep older ones remotely interested.

I never, ever thought I'd be in the position where I'm not bothered about seeing them live again, and I'm definitely on the more positive end of the spectrum as a fan of them.

Tommy yanked everyone's chain. He showed up to Brain's audition and put his jacket on Brain's mic stand. Paul Tobias showed some 'Guns attitude' early on and Tommy had none of it. On both counts, Tommy had a point. Brain hadn't even bothered to rehearse the Guns songs they were supposed to do. Paul was still an unproven quantity, in Guns and otherwise.

Tommy had to stare down all sorts of wannabe rock stars who crawled in for an audition. If he took novelty chicken buckets as pretentious, he said it out loud. He was workmanlike, and a bit of a rube next to high-flying sensitive types like Robin or Bucket. In a way, he was doing many hopefuls an early favour - the Guns gig would prove tough for them, for a lot of reasons. The bassist at his most detestable was a sweetheart next to the rampaging frontman.

Well, Tommy came by it honestly. His brother Bob used to punch him in the face if he made a mistake. And that was choir practice compared to what Westerberg put him through.

GNR ain't going nowhere, I am guessing their live shows are not going to be the same and I am sure we won't be seeing 3 hour marathons anymore, but if there is money to be made they will be back, have a bad feeling some older acts like the Rolling Stones have played their last shows at least with their core 4 guys

It's fans like you why GNR can get away with not putting out new music decades at a time. You do know that, don't you?

In the scenario I painted (2016 2022)- I will not have seen my favorite band live in 6 years. No regret whatsoever in being excited about seeing them again at that point. Since 1991, Guns releasing an album requires finding the singing bush, summoning the invisible swordsman, and all 8 planets aligning (legally and artistically). No way I would sit at home deluding myself into thinking my purchase or non-purchase of a ticket has any impact in all of that...
