Usually some days out. 3-4 in my experience with this tour. I’ve seen it at every show I attended. I’m a veteran and there is a website that gets free tickets to vets, and GNR shows almost always showed up for free tickets. More than any major band by a long shot.

Thanks for your services 🙂

Well, fuck it. I tried and failed. But, GNR have never played Wrigley so your assumption that it’s just a another cash grab show for the band is just your opinion. The band don’t seem to be lost that certain venues are magic.

My assumption/opinion is an educated guess based on my 30 year history of seeing GN'R in concert across the US. I've watched the overall steady decline of their performances, including the 4 times and 3 different venues in Chicago that I've seen them.

The only venue I can ever recall Axl treating as special has been Madison Square Garden. The first show at Hammerstein Ballroom I went to was pretty special, but I don't think that had anything to do with the venue.

Who knows. Maybe they'll do something special at Wrigley, maybe not. Either way, sharing opinions is what the forum is meant for.

Hammerstein 2006 has to be in the top 5 nu gnr shows

Tremendous shows.

It'd be an interesting debate to see what other shows would fall into a top 5.

For me personally, it's easily a Top 5 show. I only went to the first Hammerstein show but my God, everything about it was perfect.

I fail to understand how anyone from Chicago that is into Pearl Jam and GnR or anyone who has seen Pearl Jam at Wrigley fails to understand why PJ at Wrigley is an inherently special show for them, when it's just another show by and large for GnR.  I mean are you really that clueless about bands that play special shows in your city and you've even been to referenced shows lol

I know, right? I'm not even from Chicago and I'm well aware of how special Wrigley is to Pearl Jam. I also have an extensive history with seeing GN'R live across the US and it's been shown to me first hand that one show or venue is never made to feel special, outside of MSG.

Again though, we have some folks who take any facts stated about GN'R as a personal offense if they don't agree with them. None of what I said about Wrigley being special to Pearl Jam and not GN'R was meant as some sort of insult towards GN'R.

Allegiant was just announced as the Vegas venue.

Oh wow, that's......aggressive. I sincerely hope they're able to somehow move a good amount of tickets in that market withoit having to fill the stadium with casino guest giveaways.

Forever jealous. Was it MSG 2002 you were at also? I’d love to catch them there and would be my go to if I ever get over to the States to see Guns. Unfortunately I can only boast at the opposite end of the spectrum, being at two of the most critically panned performances in recent times with Slane Castle and Berlin 😂😂

No, I haven't been to MSG. I was supposed to see Michael Jackson there in 2001 but my travel didn't work out. That was the only MSG show I've ever had tickets for. I really want to see a show (nearly any show) there some day though.

I did see GN'R in 2002 though, here in Detroit. That show is notable for a few reasons. They played Riad that night, which I believe is the only time they've ever played it in the US. The show is also notable for Axl's mic throw / show walk out during and after Patience

WOW!

65,000 tickets to shift in two months, in a place they (fairly) recently played an indoor arena where tickets didn't fly and they had to announce a very big act as support.

Yet again, I see no logic at all in this, whatsoever. Unless they've got something that's going to make tickets sell quickly, it seems just......bizarre to me.

Aaah so that would explain why Wee Bill, Saul, Mikey, Darren and co were on such good form when I saw them in 2017 in MSG. My history of trying to see GNR was poor... every gig they had booked in Glasgow which I was due to see... had been cancelled! So on route to a wedding in Vegas, I caught them in MSG and had a rip roaring time!

HOB in Vegas the year before.

I find it incredibly displeasing that a fellow Scot would go for Bill instead of Wullie :axl:

I was unaware Jackson performed live as late as 2001. As frustrating as it may have been at the time missing out, who knows how you would have handled what took place a few days later with potentially being in the air so near those events happening.

My one regret is not seeing the band in 2002. I've not listened to that Detroit show in the longest time, may give it a spin. Robin finishing Patience like a champion  I had Riad on in the car from HOB the other day, I always had it in my head that he sounded pretty rough on the live versions, but I actually thought it was listenable - nowhere near as bad as what I remembered it as being.

Ya know, I hate being negative just for the sake of it.  And yeah, forums and the internet in general are ripe for over the top and, often needless, griping.  I'm just honestly bummed.  Axl, Slash & Duff are touring again, and I just can't be moved enough to feel any level of excitement for it.  I get that "brand name" bands often tour just for the sake of it to rake in revenue, but the wasted potential of GNR is just too much sometimes. If the band didn't tease new music and studio stints, it would simply be what it is.  But they do.  Especially in the last few years, but with zip to show for it.

And now they're back on the road.  Something as rad and once unlikely as Axl & Slash sharing the stage has reached the level of excitement I had in 2012-14, where Team Brazil was seemingly booking any venue that would pay them. It hurts.

Yeah, ir was a one off event MJ did consisting of two shows at MSG. I had tickets to the 09/10 show. So if things had gone differently, I would have been flying out of New York on 09/11. I did see Michael in Detroit on the Bad Tour, so I'm good with that :)

Same. Except I was at the second show on Mother's Day. It was unbelievable. I don't think my feet touched the floor anytime during Jungle.

Nu, Nu, Nu GN'R;

Hammerstein, Rock AM Ring, Nova Rock, Wembley Arena, Gibson Amphitheatre perhaps.

Gibson Amp was so good. I was at all three nights, front row. What a blast.

Wembley Arena would have been phenomenal, especially with Sailing.

Rock AM Ring needs to be in there for me, as does House of Blues 2001. The rest, I'm not so sure what I'd put in.

Any of the Hammerstein shows, Philly 2012, MSG 2002, Boston 2002, Glasgow 2006 just off the top of my head!

A friend of mine (Mackem) went to the show at Newcastle, was raging at being kept waiting til Axl allegedly had a lamb dinner or whatever the chat was at the time then wasn't pleased at not getting the full show as Axl stormed off. Hilarious.

Just picked up tickets for Foo Fighters @ MSG for June 20th which will easily sell out.  GNR should've really promoted their shows the way this one was... social media posts, some billboards/posters splashed up around NYC, got some news outlets to pick up the story (along the lines of it being the first big rock show since covid)...Grohl called in to Howard Stern this morning to promote it. And oh yeah, they actually dropped a new album.

I'm going to GNR at MetLife as well...and both will be fun, but it wouldn't have been that hard for Guns management to promote it the same way FF's are.

Oh and PS...floor tickets were about $130 with fees.

That's a much more reasonable price.

They've done some social media and billboards right? An interview or something would help too.
