North America 2021 rescheduled/cancelled/new tour dates discussion thread

There is no other act anywhere that would schedule a stadium tour and not do any promotion for it. Even someone as famous as Taylor Swift is going to be all over the media promoting a tour because...that's just what you do. You don't stay famous and popular by being invisible. But this band feels that for certain logistical reasons they just can't ever do any promotion. OK, enjoy your 1/3rd-full bowls, Axl.

I've seen commercials and billboards and stuff for this tour. What else could they do? Is a single or interview really going to realistically add thousands of sold tickets per show?

I'm not defending them, Axl is lame, but it's pretty clear they just want to ride the gravy train.

I was just looking at the dates for the summer in North America and I see they’ve a show on September 16th and 18th. Could they have not had a show on the 17th which is the thirtieth anniversary of the UYI albums being released ? Surely it’s not that hard to remember when you released albums and schedule shows on those dates.

Actually, it is quite difficult when you’re booking a tour of this magnitude.

I think it’s fair to ding them on any number of issues, but to me that is so incredibly insignificant.

I heard that Detroit tickets are already discounted down to 4-packs for $22 each. Jesus.

Shit.

I paid around $100 each (two tickets) in 2020. Figures.

I hope I get what I paid for.

If they play Hardschool, it would almost make it worth it.

Where does one see these discounted 4 packs? Want to see if there's any for Phoenix.

You really think anyone in the band really cares or remembers what happened 30 years ago?

I'm actually more hyped because of the 4 pack. I get to see GNR and take 3 people all for less than what I probably paid last time I saw them for one seat. I already have seen them many times in good seats, I could care less if these are in the back.

I'll probably ask for a free upgrade, though

I love stadium shows. Saw McCartney in 2011 and the Stones in 2015 at the same venue affordably, too

Tell everyone what I said when you offered the 4th ticket to me ;)

They put out a 4 pack deal for the Comerica Park gig. Got 4 tickets for $125 after fees and taxes. Works for me

Nice. I thought you refused to go. And what section are the tickets? Four for 125$ is hard to pass up.

Where on TM do I look? I just see the list with prices on the right and the map on the left. Is there a certain option I need to select?

So those Detroit tickets are through a different site; I saw the 4 pack option there. Those seats are way in the back though.

However, if the date sales poorly Zoso could always be moved to a lower section at the 30$ price point.

Russ said he doesn't want to spend money on GNR even by proxy . The man sticks to his guns!

Naw, I am now in the "they are a boring legacy act and it's whatever" camp. That changes tour to tour . I would be happy at this point if Axl just sounded presentable. They are in the rafters but all seats kind of suck at a baseball stadium, anyways. I've sat in a similar section there before and it was fine.

That's the hope! No loss either way, I've seen them up close enough

Eventually those seats way in the back will be given away through Tigers games, casinos and local businesses. I'd be surprised if most people whp paid from those sections don't get bumped up to much better seats.

Hoping for an acceptable Axl (not counting on it) and some songs I haven't heard yet like Dead Horse, Locomotive, TWAT, Shadow of your Love, Catcher, or whatever else (decent chance).

Pretty much have given up on an all new song :shrugs:

There are now only 3 ball parks on the tour. I feel like you will get a seat upgrade.

The fact that they are already rehearsing is hopefully a sign that the want to mix things up a bit and/or be sure to sound as good as possible when they get back on the road!

I say this with zero sarcasm or snark: I sincerely hope so. I'd love for the people going to get good shows.

Hopefully, mostly probably because they haven't played together in over a year.

I agree, sadly we all know what the bands weakest link is at the moment, and that weak link isn’t exactly know for showing up at rehearsals…

That’s probably the main reason, but with that said, I wouldn’t have been chocked if they had started rehearsing 3 weeks before the tour starts despite that…

The fact that they seem to at least put in a tiny bit more than the bare minimum is at least something I guess :shrugs:

I mean they kind of have to do a little bit of rehearsal before the tour, I wouldn't expect them to play all those songs well after a year off without seeing each other.

Yeah he's the one who needs it the most. Hope he's been working on his voice and that he sounds good out of the gate.

Had the Toronto show not been cancelled I probably would have taken them up on the four pack offer if applicable. Despite my overall disinterest in the tour I'd definitely go for twenty bucks. I'd bring my daughter along and a friend or two. It'd make for a fun night out so I'd even settle for a passable sounding Axl.
