Cnn said the FBI found papers that Trump should have never taken from the White House, so is there enough evidence to arrest him? Who knows? This is Trump we're talking about. He's like Gotti back in the day, but even Gotti finally got caught. He has to pay for his many crimes and not run again in 2024. I want all the Republicans to grow a pair and stop supporting him.

Let's see how this goes?

He'll end up indicted. The arrest question will hinge on what he did with them. If he sold access to top secret SCI records, you can't offer him a plea deal or let him walk. If it's just lower level handling issues, I doubt he gets more than a fine for the records. The GA probe is a far more significant legal issue for him, and the main takeaway from the document handling situation is that Trump is betting all of his chips on "they won't indict or prosecute a former president," which appears to be a poor choice.

Trump's problem at this point is less that he had the records, and more that he obstructed efforts (and investigations) with respect to their return.

I would find it funny that the same crowd who chanted "lock her up" over Hillary Clinton's handling of classified documents is now fine with looking the other way now that they're guy is in far greater legal jeopardy than Clinton ever was (for the simple fact that Clinton never obstructed the DOJ/FBI's investigation).  Unsurprisingly, the "but her emails" crowd have another reason to use the same stupid line.  I'm sure there will be plenty more "lock her up" chants at future Trump rallies despite Trump being in far greater legal jeopardy than their arch female nemesis.

It's being reported that some of the documents Trump had pertained to the nuclear arsenal of a foreign government.

This information is so privileged that it would have required special clearances above and beyond Top Secrete clearances that few in the government have.

I don't see how Trump does not get indicted at this point.  Hopefully we see some movement on this and other actions come mid November.

What it must be like to be on Trump's legal team (and actually get paid!).

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/09/21/trump-company-and-family-members-sued-by-ny-ag-over-alleged-fraud-scheme-00058011

Just a civil case, but it's being referred to DOJ for possible criminal charges...

No wonder Trump didn't want to leave the White House.

Also, if I'm Eric, I'm looking for a plea deal.

Trump also likely facing another lawsuit regarding allegedly raping a woman several decades ago.

NY changed its laws to allow victims of sexual abuse to sue their attackers in civil court long past the previous statute of limitations.

The billable hours keep on rolling.

Herschel Walker, Republican Senate candidate Georgian, on Herschel Walker:

“I’m this country boy, you know. I’m not that smart. And he’s a preacher. He’s a smart man, wears these nice suits. So he is going to show up and embarrass me at the debate Oct. 14, and I’m just waiting to show up and I’m going to do my best.”

Walker is more honest about his intelligence than how many kids he has.

Kind of mindblowing that in the current political climate we’re in (high inflation, low Biden approval ratings, Democrats currently the in-party), that Republicans did so poorly last night.  They are still likely to take the house, but with a much smaller majority than many projected.

It was not a good night for Donald Trump.  Two of his marquee candidates look like they’re going to lose (Walker in Georgia; Oz in Pennsylvania).  Democrats should send a thank you card to both Trump and Alito for helping them avoid a 2010 or 2018 beat down. Maybe candidate quality, abortion rights, and election denialism matter more to most Americans than what most believed before yesterday.

Still sucks Ron Johnson won his re-election in Wisconsin.  The guy is the worst.

Tuns out I spoke too soon.  Looks like the Georgia senate race is going to a run off.  Warnock needed 50 percent of the vote to avoid a run-off, and he's sitting at 49.4 percent with not much of the vote left to count.  So it's still possible that one of the worst Senate candidate (Walker) in American history can still win.

Mind-blowing how it's even close with someone like Walker in the race.

Why Ohio is so fuckin red??? How come only Obama was capable to win in North Carolina?

Obama was a once in a generation candidate.  He had this remarkable ability to connect to people who disagreed with him politically.

Ohio and Florida haven't been swing states since 2012.  North Carolina has swung for the Democrats only twice in the last 58 years ('76 and '08).  The '08 win for the democrats was an aberration, likely only the result of Obama's political gifts and the economy collapsing at the time.  It's definitely trending towards Democrats and I would expect it to look a lot like Virginia in the next eight years based largely on demographic factors.

The mid-west has been trending Republican since 2010.  What Democrats are losing in OH, MI, and WI, they're gaining in AZ, GA, and NC.

the power of charisma. So many times it boils down to the simple factor of chemistry.  Many countries at war successfully made peace cause a bunch of politicians from 2 sides liked each other.

It’s looking like Republicans will end up with an 8 seat advantage in the House (222 vs 214).   Kevin McCarthy is going to have a difficult time managing his party with such a small majority.  He really needed a 20 seat advantage to corral and neutralize the crazies in his party.  My money is on him not running for re-election in 2024.

It's good to see that the US might be done with Donald Trump's shit.,,

...as someone who was done with his shit a matter of seconds after hearing him talk for the first time, I don't really know why it took so long, but better late than never.

America is screwed.  2024 will be the beginning of the end of democracy

Something tells me you got an F in your History class. The U.S. and their democracy have been around for more than 200 years. There was a Civil War,  a Great Depression,  Watergate, etc.  Shit happens all the time. But democracy is alive and well. It's far from being perfect. And it will never be.  Not the end of the world
