Time flies. I woke up hungover as fuck after a night out in Dundee of all places on the 2nd, scouring for any footage and strolling through the thread for updates. Great times.

Imagine going through the effort to professionally record that monumental show just to keep it in house? Now would be the time to drop a few songs from the show for the Selects.

They’ll do a special April Fools NITL Selects today: Berlin, Monterrey, Rio, Abu Dhabi 

But kidding aside, they should definitely release footage of the Troubadour today (won’t happen of course)

I also remember that day... we were on vacation in England and on our way home, waiting for the ferry in the port of Dover. I wasn’t on this forum back then, so I looked for pictures on Instagram, Twitter, etc. and then the first pictures of Axl in his skeleton jacket appeared. 
Exciting times!

The hype for the Vegas trip this time 5 years ago seems insane. It's killing me that was half a decade ago

I had such a rad time that weekend. 

Drove to Chicago from Detroit on 04/28 (I think that's the right date?) to see David Gilmour in concert.

Then woke up the next morning and my wife dropped me off at the airport in Chicago. Flew to Vegas, got a rental car, went to check in at Ballys and started getting ahold of GN'R fans. 

Picked up @Ottoand met him at the same time lol. Then we went back to Ballys and threw a big party in my room. I know @buzzsawand many others stopped by the party throughout the day.

Saw GN'R that night and they kicked 10 kinds of ass. Passed out in my room, woke up, grabbed brunch with a bunch of GN'R fans, then flew home. 

On a related note, I just put out a new vinyl video today that features a bootleg on vinyl from that show!

I was at your house for music night the night of the April 1 show. We were all so excited (of course, they went on stage super late after I got home). That week was such a whirlwind. I remember you had beer in the sink or something at Bally's too. That was cool lol

Ah, 2016. Who knew it could feel so nostalgic already. Axl was back on top of the world between the long awaited reunion and fronting AC/DC. There were basically nothing but positive headlines on all fronts. The broken foot, the Dave Grohl chair, Coma back in the set at every show, Axl sounding very good overall, the leaked AC/DC rehearsal videos that proved what a voice he still had, and a bright future.

Then the next four years happened.

That whole summer was great, especially that day. I remember sitting on my computer all night looking for streams to no avail, but it was special seeing the first clips and pictures when they surfaced.

2017 at least had some marathon sets with some deep cuts for us but yeah, 2016 was untouchable for GNR hype

The build up to that show is without a doubt, one of my happiest days as a Gn'R fan. The rumors of the fake band playing the Troubadour, then the radio stations in LA saying something was cooking at Tower Records. Then the GN'R flyers that they started to place there. Then Fernando delivering pizza to the people that were camping in line (probably the best thing he did since he manages Gn'R ). Everything that night was magical. I'm from Argentina and I stood awake all night, trying to find every piece of information that I could.

Some of the best MyGNR CSI work was done that night, prior to the announcement. Really exciting times.

And then of course, the show itself. The most memorable Periscope stream in GNR's history happened that night thanks to the legend himself @Fede

Such an exciting time, hearing clips from them together again was awesome.

FWIW today is possibly THE best possible day to release the Troubadour footage (Or at least a few Selects) but I can bet we'll get nothing instead.

That Vegas trip was a dream come true. The meet up at some casino bar the night before was awesome, and hanging out with another hardcore fan dressed as young axl...... good times.

That was a very exciting time for sure but unfortunately pretty much all of that initial excitement is gone. Such a shame they turned a golden opportunity into a huge joke.

Man, you are right @Fede was legendary.  I remember the hype leading up to it and MY GNR CSI putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, then hanging out in chat with everyone all night that night knowing Vegas was a couple of weeks away,then getting to meet most everyone out there.  Amazing time indeed!

Oh, well. According to Fernando keeping the bragging rights of douches, who mostly got there due to connections and being in the proximity, intact, is way more important than doing something for the fuckers who missed out. But yay, we got 30 seconds on Instagram. Where do we have to send a check? Standing outside that fucking Troubadour was my worst GNR related thing ever.

Do you guys remember the Girl Rock School Band they used as a placeholder and some folks started researching for girl rock bands near the L.A area and contacted them if I recall correctly 

Or when photos of drumsticks were analyzed to figure out who'll play with the band

ZoSoRose mentioned this in the thread earlier, but he was hanging at my house the night of the gig. We all drank, had fun and called it a night before GN'R even went on. 

I remember checking the forum first thing in the morning and seeing a thread about her. I was like "who the fuck is Melissa Reese". Started reading the thread and thought "oh Jesus Christ, a woman in GN'R. This isn't going to go over well with a lot of fans" lol

There was a hilarious mixture of relief that Pitman was out and anger that Melissa was in.
