Chester 524
I remember how exciting it was. we didn't even know who was even in the band at that point. I remember Adler had a show in LA that same night and it was cancelled a few weeks before.... so I was hoping that he was gonna be the drummer. or atleast make an appearance. its weird to think that it's been 5 years and we still don't really have clarity of what was going on at that time with Pittman, Adler and Izzy. butt hen again this is GNR Soni guess that's expected. I love how Eddie Trunk was at the first Vegas show and I guess Axl broke the Axl DC news to him there and also promised Eddie the first interview. 5 years later and Eddie still doesn't have that interview. 1

Before the encore started Axl told us to call our rides because we were gonna be late. He wanted to keep going and going....his energy at that show was amazing!!! The rumors of the fake band playing the Troubadour, then the radio stations in LA saying something was cooking at Tower Records. Then the GN'R flyers that they started to place there. Then Fernando delivering pizza to the people that were camping in line (probably the best thing he did since he manages Gn'R ). Everything that night was magical. I'm from Argentina and I stood awake all night, trying to find every piece of information that I could. Some of the best MyGNR CSI work was done that night, prior to the announcement. Really exciting times. And then of course, the show itself. The most memorable Periscope stream in GNR's history happened that night thanks to the legend himself @Fede This thread is a great nostalgic read: 5 hours ago, tsinindy said: Man, you are right @Fede was legendary. I remember the hype leading up to it and MY GNR CSI putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, then hanging out in chat with everyone all night that night knowing Vegas was a couple of weeks away, then getting to meet most everyone out there. Amazing time indeed! 4 hours ago, The Garden of Guns N Roses said: Do you guys remember the Girl Rock School Band they used as a placeholder and some folks started researching for girl rock bands near the L.A area and contacted them if I recall correctly Or when photos of drumsticks were analyzed to figure out who'll play with the band Amazing work done by the CSI Team ! 4 hours ago, Gordon Comstock said: Remember when this picture was posted shortly before the show, and everyone assumed Melissa was just some random chick hanging out backstage, while continuing to debate who would play that second keyboard? Back then I wasn't a member on here, I started lurking when the reunion stuff was announced. I remember following along with that thread and enjoyed the CSI stuff (I honestly believe you guys here were the first ones to figure out that some kind of secret show was about to happen). I was seriously considering driving from AZ to LA to try to get in line for a ticket but I didn't end up going and I regret that every day (I also regret not going to the Vegas shows). Then seeing the clips on YouTube and not believing my eyes, seeing Slash and Axl on the same stage together. With the Vegas shows I stayed up late watching the streams on Periscope and my favorite moment was when the heartbeat for Coma started. I wish now that I had gone that weekend. 2 hours ago, Chester 524 said: I remember how exciting it was. we didn't even know who was even in the band at that point. They really missed a huge opportunity there, they could've had the AFD5 on stage for a few songs, if only for that show. That would've been an epic moment and truly deserving of bragging rights. How things have changed now... back then the reunion was such a big deal for me but by 2018 I was back into SMKC and more interested in what was going on there. I'm both happy that SMKC is still continuing and disappointed that GnR failed to deliver.

The weird thing is the quasi reunion is now longer than the original band. I only became aware of the original band in late ‘87 so really lived it for a bit over 2 years, but as a kid it seemed like the original band was around for an eternity. Swedish
I remember that the show started 8AM Swedish time and I remember being at work, taking 15 minute bathroom breaks every half hour Damn, I miss those first April shows...
GNRfanJen
Can’t believe it’s been five years already. I remember it like it was yesterday. I wasn’t a member here yet but had been lurking for months; basically since it was announced DJ Ashba left the band. I don’t have the nostalgia of the old days, nor the nostalgia of the ChiDem era (2006, 2010 etc), so for me, this period of time is what I’ll always look back the most fondly on. Truly the best memories. Yesterday really was the perfect “excuse” to post some footage of the show for us, but instead they posted the exact same video they already shared literally five years ago.
t-p-d-a
Even if Axl has a hard time writing and recording new music They could at least have released live footage from 2016 and released older recordings. Troubadour and LA Dodger is professionally filmed DVD / BR ?. Nope nothing! At least one NITL live album with revisions! Nope nothing! AFD Box has no live recordings. Ritz DVD / BR? Nope nothing! At least an Audio Live CD like Marquee '87? Nope nothing! All NITL gig are filmed. YouTube Collection with the BEST performances of each Song? Nope bad! And fans want live recordings for the UYI box. That will not happen! Maybe Tokyo '92 in BR but even then I'm not sure. Check out Slash: Writing new stuff, tour & DVD / BR / CD, break... Writing new stuff, tour & DVD / BR / CD, break... Writing new stuff, tour & DVD / BR / CD, break... Writing new stuff, tour & DVD / BR / CD, break I don't care that many songs are just fillers, but Slash just wants to make music and present it to the public, not just with a long tour, but with albums, live DVDs / BR and streams. Axl is a barrier

Maybe they heard it back and thought "oh man! we can't let people hear this". It's a disappointment that they put that clip up yesterday and it was only like 15seconds... that is one show that would have made the selects bearable, there was definitely 1 good performance in a 20+ song setlist
Popular Post Tom-Ass
The most exciting part was all the mystery leading up to the first show.. Then as soon as it happened it was apparent that Axl still looked and sounded like crap.. They still had the extra Synth player and she was even more ridiculous than Pitman.. maybe... There was no Izzy Adler or even Gilby or Matt.. It was very deflating.. I wanted to sell my tickets to the Vegas show.. I ended up having a great time at the Vegas show but it was apparent that it was never going to be as good as it could or should have been.. I passed on Cincinnati tickets (like an asshole) because they weren't good enough for me to travel for again but kept my Foxboro tix.. That Foxboro show ended up being waaay better than the Vegas show (performance wise). That was probably the highlight of the whole thing for me.. That first leg of the tour definitely had its moments but it all went downhill after that.. The last show I saw in 2017 was my least favorite of the 6 Gn'R shows I have seen in my life. They played like 5 CD songs that night too.. The band never got any tighter.. Axl continues to get worse. They release these terrible selects rather than anything from the classic era.. Just one blunder after another. The whole thing kind of makes me look at Slash and Duff in a different way too, which sucks.. Those are two guys I have really admired since I was like 13 years old in 1987. I am glad it happened but could care less if it ended tomorrow.. I actually kind of wished it ended in 2017.... I know most people are bummed that there has been no new music, but I can say I couldn't care one way or the other. Not with this lineup and the way Axl sounds.. I still come here a couple times a week hoping something good will happen and it never does.. The bar is set pretty low too... At this point I just want them to release shit from the classic era. Fuck, just polish up some old bootleg footage and release it on youtube or something.. So many missed opportunities...

DaneisKing1389
I’d check out a pro shot and I’d be fine with it. But I’ve seen them enough times since 2016 to know that I don’t think I’d pay any more than like $50 to see them live now and I’d leave before Paradise City just to beat the rush out. I never thought it’d happen and I’m truly glad I got to see Axl and Slash share a stage again. It was 10 years too late and I think it should probably end, but who am I to say that everyone has had enough. These lazy tours give Slash enough money to tour his own material in 800 seat casinos in his spare time, so I get it. Guns will do it as long as they sell seats and they will always sell seats. Jakey Styley
GNR has such a way of making you feel like you're growing old with their consistently huge amounts of time between any happenings. I'm very grateful to have seen them at Philly 2016 when Axl still sounded good (also, Slash on Sorry). What came in the following years was sad, but predictable.
downzy
When I think of the concerts in 2016 it doesn't feel that long ago. 5 years. It kind of puts things in perspective when you think what has transpired in that time. A lot of change in my life (new house, became a Dad, turned 40). But GNR never really changed. It was fun five years ago. Now... not so much.
jackparker123
I remember going to the 2017 London shows and spending a large portion of the gig convincing my mate that we WOULD be getting the new album summer 2018 at the latest supported by Wembley Stadium gigs 🤣 #TheNextChapter
Popular Post allwaystired
What really hits me is what's happened in the last five years. People have gone from massive excitement to absolute indifference in that space of time. That's genuinely sad when you think about it. To go from people DESPERATE to see them play live to not even interested when they visit their city is awful. I really hate that that has happened, when there was absolutely no need for it to be the case. That's the main take away of the last five years for me.
