Predictions For The Next GN'R Show

Recommended Posts

No need to discuss the set list predictions seeing as we already know what they'll play and the order they'll play it in. I also don't think we need to discuss the possibility of new music because, lol. However, there are other things to discuss about the next show.

What do you think we happen?

Will Fortus still be in the band? That seems a little up in the air with all the gear he's selling.

Will Slash get back to playing his own solos remotely close to how he recorded them? I wonder if he was so burned out by the end of the last run, that he was just playing whatever he wants.

Will Axl be prepared? Dude never, ever properly prepared for a tour but I'm hoping (like an idiot) that this time is different.

What else is anyone wondering about?

It'll be exactly the same as the shows they did at the beginning of 2020.

Same band, same songs, same visuals. If there's anything different I'd be very surprised.

This. Maybe they will play a very weak hardschool. Some lesser members will give a few meaningless interviews babbling about how Covid set back their plans and they have to get back into the groove and that they just wanna give the people a good time for now.

If Axl is ever going to be motivated again then it's now when he's been forced off the road for the almost 2yrs. Last time he was motivated was 2006 and he got Sebastian Bachs vocal coach to help him get into shape, and he sounded incredible. I very much doubt he's in that mindset. If there's ever been a time where he needed a vocal coach to kick his ass it's right now.

Fortus will still be in the band, he's going to ride it out until the very end. Slash and Duff will be motivated to play at least for the very first couple of shows just because of the break, if it's the same set-list as 2016-2020 then the motivation won't last. You would think this full stop on NITL from Covid would mean they say it's time to make a new set-list. I'd love if they rotated opening songs similar to the Metallica method.

Yep this is the most likely outcome

Why do people think Fortus selling gear has anything to do with his status in the band? He's amassed a huge collection over the years, and it's time to clear some space for new stuff... :shrugs:

Best case scenario:

- Axl sounds comparable to 2017... not great, but better than the later NITL shows.

- Hardschool, Pretty Tied Up and maybe a few more deep cuts added to the set, and they change the order up a bit (open with PTU instead of It's So Easy or something)

- Slash plays solos that at least somewhat resemble the album versions

But in reality it will be like the Mexico 2020 show.

I wonder when Buckethead is going to unload some of his porn stash.

At this point, this is an easier prediction than being the weatherman in Los Angeles. Axl will sound like Mickey and when he pushes his voice will crack. Slash and the rest of the band will kick ass per usual. They’ll add 1-2 older numbers into the setlist. And maybe, if we’re lucky, we’ll get a new cover song :)

Melissa will have a new hair colour and take over on lead vocals for most of the set.

Sounds crazy at first but I would love to hear the songs without that Mickey voice for a change. Melissa for the win.

Sadly, slash seems to have lost his chops. His timing , rhythm and feel have taken a major hit and he pretty much noodles random notes in place of the guitar solos .

I hate to say it but Guns N’ Roses as a live band are terrible nowadays. That being said it’s still a great time to go see them and hear the hits.

I predict the next tour will be exactly the same as the Not in this lifetime tour.

I agree he's lost a step on the lead end of things, but I think his rhythm is as good as ever. His leads are pretty consistent too, like his not stumbling over the solos in sweet child, I think he just has some shoddy bends sometimes, plays too long and I hate his CD improv work.

Hopefully axl let his hair grow. That lesbian haircut didn't do it for me.

Did you try sitting on your hand?🤣

It was a weird look though, in general he looks weird though long, short whatever... too much money and Hollywood bad combo.

The version of Sorry she did with Brain was decent.

Yeah true, I enjoyed it too... but if that did happen and she was taking lead vocals, that's 1 song in the set. People pay to hear Axl sing, and most people don't seem to care if he sounds good/bad they just want to see him up there running around with his red mic.

I If GNR came out on a tour and Melissa suddenly sang 5 songs in the set, it would almost certainly get ripped apart. I think the best bet for GNR if they were worried about Axls voice (they aren't... they should be) is to get a on the road vocal coach to whip him into shape... You can zoom this stuff these days, doesn't even need to be on the road! and if that fails then they should rearrange the set, play songs that are easier to be consistent on. If that doesn't work, cut and run! they had a successful tenure! I would like to see a Melissan/Axl duet though on a song similar in style to TIL or something though... could be cool on a new album.

Prediction in one word "disappointment".

Maybe they could sing the more complicated songs (Coma, Locomotive, There Was A Time) together and she would hit all the high notes.

and he takes certain songs out of the setlist because he can no longer sing them.

So, the majority of the set?

(Seriously though, I'd be fine with them cutting the set down to 7 or 8 'must play' songs and then filling out the rest of the show with deep cuts, or covers, or anything that Axl can actually sing...)
