I've seen this band 4 times since 2016. St. Louis in 2017 was the greatest concert I've ever attended, I go to a lot of shows and that show is yet to be surpassed for me. I've been a huge supporter of Axl since the reunion, I always tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. Saturday night was one of the most disappointing things I've ever seen from this band. There are a lot of things that play into a bad show. Based on the accounts of those that went, it sounds like there were definitely some sound/mix issues. Sound issues or not, I've finally seen this band for what it is- a brand that's trying to make as much money as they can while putting in the least amount of effort. It was crystal clear to me on Saturday that this band doesn't, and hasn't given a shit since 2017. There were some low points in 2017 but even then the shows were still fairly good and everyone looked like they were trying. The last three years have been nothing but a band going through the motions. Everyone looked tired, bored, and generally indifferent. To quote @youngswedishvinyl, "Fuck, I'd rather be at a funeral right now". This show isn't even the worst part though. It's the disrespect towards the fanbase. This band does not give a single, solitary fuck in any sense. They don't release new music despite having multiple 6 month breaks and a full year and a half where all anyone in the world could do was sit at home. They promote this tour as "the next chapter" and a "brand new show" and then come out and play the exact same set. I can't even blame Slash and Duff because we all know who's running the show. It's frustrating when you absolutely refuse to release music to a fanbase that would love anything you put out. I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just seeing things as they are right now. Honestly I'm not too bothered about Hardschool, I think I have a good idea of where they've taken it and it's fine but if I was GNR that wouldn't be my first reunion release out of the gate.... but beggars can not be choosers so I'll take whatever they play in regard to new music. Also maybe he shouldn't run around when he's having a hard time singing when he stands still. Maybe he should do that few weeks it takes to get him into full fitness physically and vocally in his own time then? Or if he wants to do it front of an audience, don't charge them? I know Axl is generally pretty bad the first show.. Does he ever improve by the second one? Nobody going to the 2nd show should expect too much better than the first gig. I figure dead Horse is off the set for a while though, I'd be shocked if he sings it every night. Probably another fairly tight 2hr set i'd guess. By week 2 they'll creep up to 2.5hrs and week 3 the 3hr show will be back. Dead Horse is right behind You're Crazy as far as songs I really want to see the most.. From the last set anyway.. My cousin sored free tix and looked at the setlist and said "that is sick they are playing Dead Horse".. He is a casual too who has never seen them. I don't care what Axl sound like I want to see it.. The intro and outro will be awesome no matter what.. I will be singing a long to the verses and I love the solo.. Dead Horse and You're Crazy were the highlights for me in Hershey. I always loved the slow version of YC too, it's probably one or my top GnR tracks and it sounded great electric. Axl sounded good on it too. And Dead Horse was super cool to see live. The stooges cover was pretty good live, the band looked like they had fun playing it.
