merryfnchristmas
Looking forward to hearing this. And also can't help but think how weird it would be to play in a band that contemplates setlist additions for two years before (hopefully) carrying them out. It's a whole 'nuther world up there. Towelie
If they don't play it on the next 4-5 shows, I dont see it being released this year. I doubt they would debut a new track towards the last half of their tour dates.
mingsubu
How long was it from soyl to absurd? Add that time to when absurd came out.

But then you have to subtract the time of the Covid lock down. I personally think SOYL is another topic and not comparable to this situation.
Lies They Tell
It's going to be interesting to see how the media will interpret the lyrics of Hard skool, or will they care enough to interpret it in any way. To me the lyrics have always been pretty clearly about the break up of Guns n' Roses. Every word fits. I've always thought that in order to release this song Axl had to call Slash one more time and see if they could make it work, cause otherwise it probably wouldn't have felt right to release a song with the lyrics "No efforts spared to save what we had". This song paints the picture that Axl did everything he could to make things work with Slash and it probably wouldn't have felt right to release this if Axl hadn't called Slash one last time. Luckily it worked out great and we got the reunion. Fernando hinted that there might be a video for Hard Skool in the works. I've always imagined that when the slow part of the song starts, the music video would show the old Guns n' Roses at it's prime. The slow part of the song has always felt like it's about reminiscing about the old days. It would feel like a missed opportunity if they don't show the old times and the old band during that slow part of the song.
Pskihq92
They will. Probably not tomorrow. Sometime in September. I'll start watching real close when it's been a month since Abshrd was released or played
rumandraisin
It's all a guessing game really. Imagine this thread about absurd, we have no idea how they operate and everything seems random, no game plan. It'll most likely drop at a random gig when we least expect it. Then another midnight release. Essentially, when axl feels like it.

A few bands have gone back to a singles before the album model recently. I’d guess 6-8 weeks after Absurd if that’s their plan. If you’re correct about when Axl feels like it, or the contractual obligation theory was correct, it’s anyone’s guess. smokingarthur
All this band needs is some face paint and some floppy shoes and you’re basically attending Barnum & Bailey.
JohnnyRais
If they debut HS, then they have to play it at every show, just like Absurd... and it will be a challenge for Axl right now.. there are 25 shows left for 2021 they could drop it just before the Australia/NZ tour or at the end of it... or if there's an album coming for real, they might not even drop other singols but the album directly... or mayby they are just trolling, and HS won't see the light of day with GnR, who knows.. after Absurd, anything is possible

WhazUp
The answer to the question to me is "when Axl feels like it" which in reality means who the hell knows lol
jimisbatman
When will HS come out? Unsure, however just read Kanye potentially made 12m from listening party's for new album. Limp Bizkit stated they will leak songs from new album, then album will drop. Regardless if you like aforementioned artists, they're moving forward, making money, and getting their songs out there. Not being a 'negative nelly' but at some stage GnR may need to think of a better business release music strategy going forward other than this 'mystery' release strategy, or they'll wake up, and not be able to pack out stadiums anymore. How many more albums would have CD sold if they had singles with music videos?
Live Like a Suicide
It takes time to prepare songs for digital releases on multiple platforms (like Spotify), and it also takes time to press physical copies for release. If HS is intended to be released (as seemingly confirmed by Fernando and other evidence including soundchecks), then it would have to be in the pipeline and pre-prepared. It is possible for Axl to debut it live whenever he feels like it, but there will have to be a set timeframe for a studio release.

Frankly don't know how Spotify and the likes work, but they could drop HS the same way they did Absurd. They've had enough downtimes in the recent years, and releasing this single doesn't mean the album has to follow quickly after. That could take another year for all we know. Plus, they can easily make a video for it - all they need to do is take these 30-second teaser snippets they keep feeding us with in the social media and make a single 3-minute video. Easy peasy. The only trouble is, when they release this, the expectation would be them playing it live. And that's all about Axl.

I do think HS will likely follow the same strategy as Absurd, with perhaps the addition of a release announcement (which could be a double-sided single or an album, etc). This way, they may be able to alternate between HS and Absurd live.
betterman
When I listen to complete soundcheck together with the old demo, its pretty obvious that the part after second chorus will have new/additional vocals. The way Slash plays this new part sounds like it should be accompanied by vocals, like a bridge to the new solo and the final build-up and chorus. So I think this tune will not consists of all 99-vocals
SoulMonster
When they introduced Shadow of Your Love to the sets in 2018 I was not sure how Axl's vocals would hold up, but except for timing issues he did really well. Really well.
