Martin Riggs
So I’ve been on a SMKC kick tonight for the first time in years and it got me wondering..with GNR currently touring and releasing a few new songs and SMKC releasing music soon and likely touring…who do you honestly think is a better band musically in recent years? Not history or even necessarily songs in and of themselves..but say since 2016 to now who is a more impressive band live?
Live Like a Suicide
I'm not a big fan of SMKC, but they can put on consistent - almost perfect - shows every night. On pure technical performance, i would probably give it to them, but live GN'R is a different experience, and much larger to manage, so it does come with its own challenges and benefits too. Free Bird
If Axl is in good mood and cracking jokes... Well, if Axl doesn't sound like shit his stage presence alone is way superior than Myles' but SMKC delivers every time. They're no stadium act with pyros but you'll be blown away when they finish their show with Anastasia

Martin Riggs
Here’s an apples to apples comparison we can make. This compared to what we hear with GNR on this song recently:

Dangelus
Live, you will have more fun with SMKC. GNR has the far superior songs though.
Popular Post Ralphelmo
Musically SMKC (considering GNR/VR material). Frank Sidoris, Brent Fitz and Todd Kerns make together a better rhythm section than Duff, Frank and Richard. AFD stuff is note to note perfect compared to the album. Plus you must know that Slash is having much more fun with SMKC. Edited September 26, 2021 by Ralphelmo

Free Bird
I say both are great but it depends what you are looking for. The big show like Guns or a straight forward rnr gig. If you haven't seen SMKC, they are worth their money. If you haven't seen Guns, take your chance.
Popular Post AxlRoseCDII
To me, it’s no contest GNR. Axl sounds pretty bad vocally sometimes but he’s still Axl. He’s still one of the best frontmen of all time, and the GNR setlist is fucking great. Yeah there’s some covers and KOHD but even KOHD is great live in my opinion. I’m not as invested into SMKC music. It’s good, but doesn’t have the same meaning and emotion to me. It’s a solid band though. Would definitely see them if they came to town and it was a good price. GNR will always be better to me though.

Yeah, GNR is obviously the bigger production but my main idea for this thread was simply which band is currently tighter/better however you want to state it disregarding the size or scope of the shows. Lio
GNR, without a doubt. I have seen and enjoyed SMKC a few times, but I'm going there only for Slash. I like SMKC's music, but I would only go to multiple concerts for Anastasia (which isn't even SMKC, I think?) I'm going to GNR for Axl, Slash, Duff and the many, many songs I love.

That’d be pretty damn cool.

This Sidney version is probably the best thing Slash has ever played in his entire life. Edited September 26, 2021 by Free Bird

I thought it was the Myles song on that Slash album with all the different singers. But I was wrong then.

Regarding replacing Slither, I was just operating under the idea they would only do one outside but still band member related song. Also Axl doesn’t even sing it correctly so I wouldn’t miss it. Replacing it with Fall To Pieces would also be interesting.
liers
Guns N’ Roses, mostly because I get tired of Myles’ voice after a few songs. Not that Axls voice is much better now a days, but I make an exception because he’s Axl
Martin Riggs
This is early SMKC but I figured I’d share it in case some people have never seen it. I love the electric version. Has Slash ever done that with GNR?
default_
The instrumental band Slash put together is fantastic, Todd Kerns is a beast. I dont like Myles voice but I cant deny how great of a musician he is. I still dont quite like SMKC music because of him tho, cant stand his voice, but that just my personal opinion. Tom-Ass
I have always thought that SMKC were the better/tighter band and that may still be true but I would still choose a Guns show every time.. Mostly for the songs.. As band, Guns have really seemed to have finally found some chemistry this tour too..
