Holy Grail

Adding another to my list.

The show's that were recorded for videos. Eg. It So Easy has footage from the Cathouse if memory serves. Paradise City had footage from Donnington.

Taking the assumption that those full shows exist proshot somewhere.

Would be awesome to see those in their entirety, and has an element of realistically being bale to be done, seeing as current iteration of the band is more about the original line up (as apposed to my other holy grail post regarding the rerecorded afd which will never see the light of day bar a huge controversial leak).

Seconded. I get that there's nothing to discuss of worth in the GN'R world but that doesn't mean that constantly posting lists, fake info and bumping all threads should be allowed.

Him and Pele have generated more discussion than 99% of this board in the last few months. I never understand why some users complain and call for banning people they find annoying, instead of just ignoring them. :shrugs:

Yes, I agree!

A proshot from Donnington would be SICK!

He says he's got some new songs or something? Is there a reason why he's not shared them or am I missing something here?

I don't think he's said he has new songs? He's got the same instrumentals the rest of us have, and he mashed some of the together to make his version of Seven, but if he's claimed to have actual unreleased songs I must have missed it.

That's fair. I look at D&N less and less every week any way, so it's really no big deal. It's just tough to weed through to see if anyone made a good post when they're buried in between at the faux insider horseshit.

He does - he's even typed out the below review.

He's a strange one though.  I don't feel it's devious or malicious in any way.  It's fan fiction, but his lists seem to blur the reality with his fiction.

ROLL ON 2 U: Nice rnr track, think of "Outta Get Me" but without all that energy and magic. Nice.

FEELIN' IT: Seems like a good rnr single. Finally, a riff. Superb. Gem of the album. Powerful sound (finally!!). Possible brand new single; first brand new unheared song since 2008.

CASINO NIGHT ZONE: First piano driven song of the album. Rapping Axl returns for a few seconds. Maybe, the first GNR song ever to have a "techno" echo. Very short song but my personal fav.

ELVIS: Think of a "Sorry" lil brother. Nice, angry vocals. Darkest song of the album and that cellos are LOUD for a little moment. 7/10 if you ask me.

OMG: Heaviest song of the album. Almost like screamo Rose on steroids. Buckethead guitar in the background???? Powerful.

ATLAS: Filler. Not as happy as "Casino Night Zone" and not even in the league of "Catcher In The Rye". Interesting intro. 5/10 if you ask me. The Sean Beaven mix was much better.

7: Yes. Yes. YES. This is the quality I was waiting for! EPIC SONG. 10/10. Think of a mix between "Circus Maximus", "D Tune", "Curly Shuffle" and "Poison Heart". I MEAN, FREAKIN' REALLY. AXL, WHAT WAS YOU THINKING WHILE YOU DISCARDED THIS SONG FOR "CHINESE DEMOCRACY"?! WHY YOU PUT "SCRAPED" INSTEAD?! Oh, you need serious help, Axl Rose. Tears on my eyes. Really.

ABSURD!: Second filler. Released as a single. I prefer the 1999 vers.

EL HERMANO: If "Absurd!" is the "Scraped" of this album... This is the "Riad N' The Bedouins". Really nice guitars; little vocals. Maybe, it works very fine as an opener (And put "Roll On 2 U" as track 9; switch places). 3:39 of heavy rock. Hm. After all... It's a new song. Who cares?!

GENERAL: Another "Sorry" little brother. I really see "Elvis" / "Sorry" / "General" like the same batch of melodies, I don't know. Interesting track. Rose vocals not powerful as in "Absurd!" or "Feelin' It". Where is that "grinding riff"?! Sebastiannnnn. Last heavy/dark song of the album.

PERHAPS: Third piano driven song of the album after "Casino Night Zone" and "7". A certainly great upgrade over the 1999 vers. It's dark but with a bit of hope. I like it, I love it!

HERE TODAY: Duff vocals. If "Perhaps" is night; "Here Today" is the dawn or the sunrise. Lovely track; maybe even epic song. Think of a mix between "Misunderstood" and "Crazy" by Aerosmith. I don't know. Just freakin' magic. It's a song of love, sure but it hurts... Still hurts. Beach, sunrise/sunset. I don't know how to describe it. I really love it. 10/10.

RIDERS OUT OF SIGHT: EPIC. YES. YES, LAST EVER ROSE MASTERPIECE OF ALL TIMES. Start like a dark song, like an uninspired "Patience", slow, but later on... I REALLY LOVE YOU AXL. MAN. YOU'RE THE GREATEST FRONTMAN OF ALL TIME. AFTER ALL THIS TIME, THE THING IS THAT WE LOVE YOU, MAN. "NOVEMBER RAIN" / "ESTRANGED" / "RIDERS OUT OF SIGHT". LOVE YOU, MAN. LOVE YOU AS A STARFUCKER. Tears in my eyes again. We are so fortunate to live in this world. Really.

Axl, how beautiful life is while you're in the world.

HARD SKOOL: The great finale. 90's rock and roll style, let's go!! End of the journey. It was a nice ride, right? Like "Roll On 2 U", this is a great direct rock and roll. And life is this.

If I have to add a third Holy Grail would be some brand new unheared proshot of 1988 or so.

Yeah, going by the snippets of what we've seen in the ones I've quoted, and the likes of The Ritz 88, it'd be amazing.

They have so much stuff they could use, it's frustrating. Someone else in another thread spoke about instead of the NITL tour selections why not do UYI ones, as well as the early days too touring AFD.

Mine would be:

An at least 4 hour tour documentary.
Live shows, the paired back illusions, demos from that era, more concert footage, a 5 hour making of UY1 & UYI 2 documentary with lots of studio footage, more concert footage, more live audio, more live footage, demos, demos, demos.

Did I mention the concert footage?

If you believe that you are a seriously gullible person and I hope those closest to you check up on you regularly so you don’t go giving people $500 in gift cards

The Grail for me is still all the unreleased Marc Canter recordings… has he ever said why he won’t release those? I know it’s for legal reasons but is he still at odds with Axl over the Reckless Road book?

Legal issues and they’re still on the rocks yeah

Ah my first time seeing axl on stage and it didn’t disappoint. And no that women didn’t get bootled at all. She got booed like a kerry footballer in Croke park but not anything thrown. That was the night DJ Ashba came out of the back of the arena and spoke to the fans and claims it was glass bottles full of bodily fluids that were thrown. I mean the point.. sorry the O2 staff aren’t that bad to let glass bottles into the venue.

I might be mixing it up a bit, it was a long time ago but I remember either the woman or the promoter having a few bottles thrown in their general direction. Neither were directly hit though.

As for Axl, he was 100% hit with a plastic cup/bottle, if it was glass Axl 1000% would not have returned to the stage. As for the rest of the story, I got all that through meeting Richard after a Thin Lizzy gig. Dj was in PR mode defending Axl but he was talking shite. I was front row, right under Axl and saw both strikes.

As for the the 3 staff, they are hit and miss! I got in to see Rush with a back pack on in 2011, nobody asked to look at it, I could have brought anything inside which is a scary thought. I also used the staff only elevators to go up and down the floors when I had seating tickets, one time a staff member got in beside and honestly couldn't have cared less🤣 I wouldn't say it's the tightest ship, the staff are all on zero hour contracts and basically there to make money during college, so fucks given would be about 0🤣 The bouncers are a bit more on the ball though.
