I had done the same thing previously. I just moved the camera 1 click to the left. Then It showed up. There are lots of mentally ill people on the street, and theyre actions can be very unpredictable. I'd say it's safe during the day, but there were almost 2 attempted rapes in the middle of the day off Melrose last week. This place sucks anymore.
