If it were one album with all the songs I didn't list here, I'd argue that it's the greatest album of all time. Still a ton of great songs on two albums and they both nearly maxed out the time limit on CDs.

No doubt! Right up there with AFD, and Chinese Democracy :D (I wish they did the same with CD in 2008 or so, just get it all out, then that would more or less force the current lineup to write actual new material!)

It's better than the filler UYI songs I listed, for sure. Monsters is freaking awesome.

Just imagine how much better it was before it was reworked or touched by the current lineup. (Soul Monster)

Back in the day, I thought an epic triple album release for Chinese Democracy was on the table. Who knows how things could have played out if Axl didn't no-show Phili 2002, which de-railed everything for NuGNR.

No kidding, it was a time of missed opportunities. I suppose we were fortunate to get one album. My preferred scenario would have been two albums with Buckhead and Robin Finck, which probably exists somewhere...

How is anyone interested in songs from decades ago we've all already heard? Monsters, Atlas, SOG.

I get Slash & Duff doing their thing to fix'em up, but really, who cares.

The vocals will be the same. With some different guitar & bass sounds. Always liked Atlas, but that into has to go. Monsters i liked as is. SOG is just filler imo. I was on this GNR merengue round hoping for new shit for 30 years. It's not happening

Well state of grace would not be thr same vocal, that was a rough sketch and not finished.

Why would people be interested? Why not? It doesn't really float my boat but if bubchanxe they make one of these songs into a great song I'm going to be very happy. Hasn't happened yet, but it's possible

I'll take official live releases of UYI era over any new music going forward until the band is retired .. Throw in some early ChiDem live releases too .. There's enough recorded material there to last us a life time

I wouldnt.

I am sick of hearing the same tired songs to be honest.

The sad state of the GnR fandom. Soon they'll say Monsters is better than the entire catalogue!

What are you so bitter about? Like it, don't like it... why is it so important for you to shit on everyone else that likes it?

After hearing the singles, I'd bet if they released SOG it would be 99% the same vocals we've heard, soaked in effects. Maybe he did some minor touch-ups like he did with Perhaps, but don't get your hopes up for a different vocal take...

Ha! I wouldn't be surprised either, I just think that song is so unfinished vocally it would be very extreme of him not to have done a whole other run at it... but, we know what he did with the others so, all you can do is hope. Would be a shame bot to give a song like that a fighting chance

That’s assuming State of Grace wasn’t abandoned, and if it wasn’t, it’s likely Axl recorded proper vocals for it between 2000 and 2014. (If I had to guess, I’d learn towards it being an abandoned song, which is unfortunate, though Nothing wasn’t abandoned as of 2008, so who knows!)

It's possible, but it's more likely that he kept the vocals and just digitally edited and added effects. Aside from little touch-ups or the odd lyric change, the early CD-era vocals were the final ones.

The version we heard does sound more like a 'demo' than most other Village tracks, I'd like to be wrong and hear a completely different take if it's released, but yea... expect the same vocals, and hope to be surprised.

They sound mostly, if not wholly placeholder, scratch vocals. (Not suitable for release)

Tommy Stinson left Guns in 2014, and after his time with GN'R he said Axl recorded vocals every year he was in the band. That's at least 6 years of Axl doing vocal work post 2008.

The State of Grace vocals sound like that guy on Youtube who mocks Axl's voice. Pray to god that never sees the light of day as an official release.

The last few lines of that song sound great, other than that, the other parts need to be rerecorded. (Which may have happened decades ago)

I like Monsters. But I think it's ridiculous how many people are heralding it as the greatest thing GnR has ever done. It's not. Not even close.

Nah, it does sound like him. I actually like it, it's kind of... dark. But it's obviously not a final version they'd release.

I strongly believe State of Grace was not abandoned.

Still better than dreaming up scenarios about the same handful of ancient song names over and over again.

Perhaps not all, but Monsters is better than a few of those songs. It’s certainly a top tier GnR track in my view
