PRL being the 2nd album is just a theory. There is NO information on that song other than the leak, and one random ass foreign interview which may or may not even be legit.

Are you implying that foreign interviews are less reliable than American?

Regardless, we can be pretty sure the quote was legit because Axl namedropped the song P.R.L. in that interview (actually it was in conversations with fans after Rock In Rio and Rolling Stone Argentina reported what what been said). Think about it, he mentioned P.R.L. about 20 years before the Village leaks happened. Clearly Rolling Stone Argentina didn't just make up a song name that turned out to be real. And we also have copies of the actual article, so it is not a fake article spread by insane fans. It is legit.

Something I have written about P.R.L. earlier:

I am curious about this song and what might have happened to it in the period after the leaked version was recorded in November 2000 and until Axl talked about wanting to name the sister album to Chinese Democracy after it. Axl must really have liked it considering that he intended to name the album after it.

On the leaked version it is annotated "w/out THYME (no gtrs)", suggesting both that it was intended to be merged with the track Thyme which was also leaked. Thyme is an interesting track of about 2 minutes that could go as an introduction to P.R.L. And Thyme (on Rough Mixes CD #4) is annotated "(P.R.L)" further indicating that these two tracks somehow go together.

The "no gtrs" likely point to there having been recorded a version of P.R.L. with guitars, or that they intended to do so shortly. This also suggests they were working on this song at the time of the recordings in November 2000.

Yeah I understand what you're saying, I just feel like the idea was abandoned and never progressed beyond the Locker era, like most if not all of the remaining Locker material. We don't have to get into that though, you think there's a lot of finished material, I think there's maybe 1 or two more songs.

While there's still nothing really happening here, Sebastian Bach has released a new single:

People here probably hate me by now, but I post these things as a reminder.

Everyone else just keeps releasing music, except Axl.

A lot? I don't know. I try to be rational about this. We know for sure 5 songs at least have been finished in addition to those on CD. I would add Atlas, too, which was as good as finished in 2001 and almost made it onto CD. It only makes sense the band worked on finishing additional songs - we know they didn't just end work in 2001, they continued coming up with new songs and worked on finishing others. P.R.L. is an example of a song they had plans for, so were Thyme, Quick Song, State of Grace. And we had good indications they either completed a follow-up album or came close. Then we have quotes from Susan and Fernardo about an album being worked on in recent years, and finally Slash indicating that the number of singles they intend to released could be compiled into an album. All of this together speaks of at least a few more finished songs.

But you can of course go on and continue to "just feel" otherwise.

I still feel like the second half of the Circus Maximus leak has potential.

But I also think that it would have been released by now if anything would have been finished.

My feeling is based on a 20+ year history of events, not just a whim. Susan and Fernando are full of shit. Just like everybody else that's claimed new music that's never materialized. Slash said they redid a small amount of ChiDem songs that was such a small (and insignificant) amount (4-6) that he didn't even remember the exact number.

Never materialized? We got CD, didn't we? And then we have received four new singles. Don't confuse the slowness from non-existence. Just because it happens slowly doesn't mean it doesn't happen. You can sneak up on a deer by carefully walking towards it, it too isn't able to detect motion if it happens slowly.

Slash never said 4-6. And again, he also indicated the songs could be compiled onto an album. As for Susan and Fernardo being full of shit, what makes you think they would blatantly lie about the band planning to release an album? Don't attribute to malice and deliberate lies what is more easily explained as GN'R not being able to execute on plans in a timely fashion.

It's like you have just decided to disregard any indication that we might eventually get enough songs to make an album. It is similar to the pelesque position of, "If I haven't heard it, it cannot possibly exist". After we get the next 1-2 singles some people are going to continue to insist we won't get more, and then when we get more they will insist that that was the last, and so on. Eventually they will be correct of course, but only after having been wrong a bunch of times just because they have decided to disregard all evidence to the contrary. They prefer their "feelings" than actual evidence. I think some people find some reward in wallowing in negativity and believe so strongly nothing will ever happen because that helps them to rationalize their general disappointment with the band.

That whole album is so good. Features Todd Kerns on bass too.

Well, I listened to both Eddie Trunk shows from last Monday, and when I finally got the very end of the second to Eddie Trunk say that.... but he was talking about L.A. Guns, not GN'R (he had Tracii Guns on)

So, everybody, nothing to see here...

Yeah they have a new record coming soon.

I saw him about a month ago, he always puts on a fun show. Opened with What Do I Got To Lose, played most of the first Skid Row album but still played 4 new songs.

I really do hope we get to hear something new from Guns, but I’ll never expect anything. If something new comes, cool. If not, well, I got the new 311 album spinning tonight and I’m happy to hear new music from a band I’ve loved for so long.

Damn I was thinking of that as joke, and that maybe it's Riley's LA Guns 😅

Dude, this has been discussed to death. I'm not going to explain to you how Slash said 4-6 songs again for the 1000th time. He never said or suggested anything like what your'e getting at. You don't drip feed 2 songs every 2 years (coincidentally? as you tour the US) if you have an entire album. It is so obvious they are doing it as a marketing gimmick, and only have so many songs to release, hence the 2 every 2 years. And what makes me think bullshitters would lie? To fool dumbasses like you that slurp up every bit of bullshit they're told. GNR not being able to "Execute on plans in a timely fashion" is not why we dont have a new album. You couldn't suck their ass more dude. It's insane you actually said that, after all of the years of this band's bullshit. Unbelievable.

Slash never said 4-6 songs. He definitely suggested they could compile the songs into an album later. Do I need to post the quotes for you?

They don't have an album as in a finished product ready to be released tomorrow. They have the songs to go on an album. And yes, they clearly can drip feed these songs, because that's what they are doing, and then - as Slash said - they might compile them onto an album later.

You think Susan lied about an album to fool dumbasses like me? Why would she do that? Explain her motives for wanted to fool unknown fans and risk the ire of the band and Duff for lying about their business? I am really curious to hear more about how you make this seem a more reasonable explanation than simply that she was right but that things haven't come out yet.

The reason why we don't have an album seems definitely to be that they haven't been able to release it yet, which in itself has many explanations most of which lie with Axl.

Anyway, why do you get so emotional about this? Are you pissed because someone handles the situation much better than you? Does it bother you that you get so whiny about this and I am so cool with it?

my mistake. I wonder if there was some truth to it, if there was ever a point in that time frame that Axl wanted to release a full album instead of the singles.

Or perhaps Fernardo just knew Slash and Duff were working on songs and assumed that it would result in an album.
