Slash's blues album set for May; single out now. SERPENT festival announced

I can’t get over how much I love this album! And like TSI?, this has me searching out the originals as well as other versions throughout the years. TSI? led me to becoming a fan of early FEAR and now I’m going down the Chuck Berry rabbit hole thanks to Slash :slash:

Is the country audience really that huge, or why is Oh Well (which has no music video) taking off way harder than Killing Floor? Oh Well came out a month later and has almost 2,5 million streams - while Killing Floor is out there with only 1,4 million. I thought ACDC was so huge it would've attracted a way bigger audience than a country crossover song, but seems a non-video song is killing it on streaming platforms lol.

Listening to the album again, and the intro to Stormy Monday gives me complete faith that Slash (and Axl) would still sound fantastic on a song like Parisienne Walkways... I'd love to hear him do a Gary Moore / Thin Lizzy song on this tour.

Probably because they watch rather the video version on You Tube?

Finally gave the entire album a listen - it is pretty fun!  I would say as a vibe it is instantly more memorable to me than the last couple of Conspirators records which sort of all blend together for me sonically.  The guest appearances help with that, helping distinguish

The guitar work is solid as always and I find the entire thing pretty tasteful and a nice rocking take on those blues tunes

Country music fills stadiums and arenas here in the US. Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs and a few others are huge. Not my cup of tea, but there you go

@Voodoochild did you already figured out who’s playing what on Orgy? Did Gary C. play three solos on Crossroads or was Slash also playing one of that clean leads on it?

The first solo is Slash, and then Gary Clark at 1:39. At 2:25 is Slash again. At 2:50 seems like Gary. At 3:56, Slash again. And 4:55 is Slash.

I figured this with my speakers, but I think it's better to listen to it with headphones, because you'll notice Gary's lead guitar a bit more to the left pan. His tone is slightly less distorted and has more treble.

I went to a show in Vegas last year with Gwen Stefanni and Blake. People were dead during her set, including with No Doubt songs. Then Blake came in and people went nuts. That was really disgraceful.

I mean, I guess it’s all good that people like what they like but I just can’t get into the newer pop country. I saw No Doubt open for 311 in 94. When they came on stage no one knew who they were. When they left the stage we were ALL fans. That band was fucking amazing!

They were indeed great, especially the early days. There's some early 90s gigs on YouTube like this one, Gwen was super cute:

Didn't watch their recent Coachella set, but I saw people bitching about Olivia Rodrigo's guest because she had trouble hitting the low notes. I don't really care for her, but I thought that was really unfair. I mean, it's good that she wasn't using Autotune, and she was a guest, probably wasn't hearing herself good enough in the beginning.

Anyways, let's get back to Slash lol.

That’s how I thought, just wasn’t sure about the 3:56 solo. Thought it could have been Gary also because it’s cleaner than Slash‘s previous.

I think he just lowered his volume knob there. The style and phrasing are still Slash to me, and the mix has it in the center channel.

Gary‘s parts are awesome. I think Slash recognised that and tried something similar in style. There’s an interview where he‘s quoted saying Gary Clarke Jr‘s solo is his most favourite by anyone in recent years. Don’t know which of them. Both are great.
