No. He didn't run that much till later did he?  He was fairly gingerly for a little while, was he not?  I feel he for sure was focused on vocals because of that initially, before movement and performance became more and more prominent

This was a couple weeks before the AC/DC tour resumed...

He was in 'GNR mode' as far as vocals and movements on that leg, but his vocals were in a sweet spot between AC/DC tours. After this he went back to screaming some of the toughest Brian Johnson songs, his voice started to consistently crack, and the continued touring did him no favours.

Yeah, all this talk reminds me just how lucky I am that I saw GnR on that particular tour leg. I remember at the 2016 show I went to his voice sounded so good that even my cynical brother who hates everything couldn’t help but smile. During Its So Easy in particular, Axl’s voice was so powerful that it sounded like it was gonna blow the speakers out.

Thank god we got the reunion when we did, and not any time later. I do remember his voice sounding decent every now and then since then, but he was on another level in 2016! That said, regardless of whatever the future state of his voice is, just for the sake of continuing to shake things up, it’d be cool if they restructure the setlist even more than they already have to prioritize baritone songs, new songs, etc.

At this point, I don’t know why anyone would go to a GNR show to expect a good performance from Axl. Full stop at this point, you’re going to the concerts just to have a nice night and listen music you enjoy, see Slash, or do it for the novelty. I think people should start accepting Axl is never going to sound like he did in his prime or even 8 years ago ever again unless he were to seriously undergo surgery and practice, which won’t happen.  Dont get me wrong, it’s absolutely lame that Axl doesn’t do anything to better his voice, and I’d much prefer he takes the Bon Jovi or Steven Tyler approach of “don’t tour if it sounds bad or you can’t do it”, but in 2024, we are where we are. It’s not even worth debating if his voice will come back. It’s not.

This is a fair point. I've seen them a host of times since 2016 and, when you're there, I find it difficult to discern things like "rasp" in the moment. I recall one time at Miami 2017 (show with the best litho of all time) the opening line from Yesterdays sounded so unbelievably "raspy" in person that my friend and I turned around and went "Wow!" to each other. Looking back on the YouTube video now it doesn't sound that way at all so I wonder what proportion of your brain takes over your fandom and lets you see and hear what you want to.

I saw them twice in 2006 and once in 2012 and he never struck me as sounding stronger on those occasions than any of the most recent tours. I've actually really enjoyed the inclusion of Bad Obsession, Pretty Tied Up and the other lower register songs to demonstrate the true strength of his voice. Any 2025 tour I expect to be about on par with what we had last Summer.

His voice ruined after he finished GNR tour and tried to save AC/DC Tour,he did it with success but in the next GNR tour his voice was already damaged.

I was at that show, he sounded pretty good for the whole set that night.

It’s a shame Axl’s voice isn’t quite as good now, cause post-Covid, he looks better than ever. In 2016-2019 he looked just ok, and unfortunately, looks matter in the music industry.

If he had his post-Covid figure in 2016, the reunion woulda been better received than it already was.

But as I said before, he still sounds good sometimes and they’ve already started to pivot the setlist towards low-register songs, so I’ll remain cautiously optimistic (as always).

I have never heard of any of this, not even anything similar and not even as a rumour.

I think it's impossible that there's any truth to it. For one, 28 million is too much - I doubt the whole band was worth that much, let alone have it in cash from liquidated assets.

The income Izzy and Steven are getting is from their publishing royalties (from their writing credits), which they would get anyway (like everyone who has songwriting credits does) and 20% each from the band's share on the sales of AFD and Lies (there was a provision for that in the 1992 partnership agreement). The agreement with Izzy was about royalties from the band's share of the sales of UYI until 1997.

So is this actually happening?  Slash said 2025 was all about Guns but still no sign of any dates. 

In Europe, big shows are usually in the summer and usually announced by now so I doubt they’ll be touring here. 

So maybe another US tour later in the year?

I assume we can expect an announcement after Duff's solo tour ends (so maybe next week or in a couple of weeks).

the dates for last years Tour wasn't announced until February.

Assuming they actually spend the year focused on GNR (which hopefully isn't true, I want another Serpent festival!) I would hope they space the shows out more. Maybe a similar tour pattern as RHCP - tour for 1-2 weeks, take a break, repeat. I saw them at the end of 2023 and Axl's voice was burnt out, even with spacing out the shows more than previous tours and adding songs with easier vocals, by the end of that tour he was clearly out of gas...

I’m lucky, I witnessed some incredible vocal performances out of him, in- person. 2010 and the four times I saw him in 2016 with GnR and AC/DC were legitimately mind- blowing. Now, I just go expecting to have a good time out with my favorite band. Had fun at the shows I saw, last year, even though his voice isn’t the same. He’s in his 60s, now. It is what it is. 

If he likes touring, and the shows are still fun, why not?

I'll always feel lucky to have seen an early 2010 show. Even the 2011-14 shows I attended were all great experiences, I saw Duff join them 5 years before NITL and saw the last shows with Izzy... 2016 was tons of fun and I'm not expecting that level of performance these days, but when I saw them last year his voice was failing him on songs that were easily replaceable.

It's not a matter of stylistic choices anymore, he shouldn't have been singing Reckless Life but attempted it anyway and his voice failed him before he was halfway through the song. It was embarrassing. In a stadium environment nobody would complain if that song were replaced by something easier like Black Leather. The excuse of he's in his 60's is a weak deflection from the point, he could absolutely restructure the set around a more natural voice.
