VR came out of an era where relations between Axl and Slash were bad, so a reforming of VR could dig up old wounds. At the very least, it would be nice if they opened the VR vault with a special release. Honestly I don't think Duff and Slash care about VR at all anymore. They put out that 20th anniversary Contraband and it was mainly Matt promoting it (Dave mentioned it too), and it was a pretty disappointing release too. Unfortunately I don't think there's any chance now of us hearing the unreleased stuff. And a reformed VR wouldn't be the same at all. VR still had an element of danger and unpredictability like classic GnR did but those guys aren't like that anymore. Personally I want more SMKC and I hope they can knock it out of the park on this next album. Seems like they're having a good time jamming right now, hopefully some cool stuff will come out of that. And they did have a lot of leftover songs from earlier too; I think it would be worth revisiting some of those as well. 3 Quote

Slash still mentions sometimes that VR wasn't a good time for him at all anyway. 3 Quote
ZoSoRose Posted October 15 Posted October 15 NuVR would be so dumb. Scott is long dead and Slash and Duff have been comfortably back in GNR for almost a decade where they represent VR with Slither. Nobody is wanting a NuVR, it is impossible to recapture that with their age and without Scott. They have like, maybe 6 songs that people would really remember and want. Hardly a reason for a fake resurgence and Slash and Duff know that. 3 Quote
evilfacelessturtle Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Uh, Axl was playing Slither with them and they're doing CD tracks. Of course it wouldn't be an issue. But it wouldn't even really be VR anymore with a new singer. 3 hours ago, ZoSoRose said: NuVR would be so dumb. However, that's 6 more memorable songs than SMKC has had on the last two albums... and nothing they ever did approached Slither or Fall To Pieces level. The VR brand has much more cache than SMKC. But IDK who you would ever find as a singer. It's an arduous and tedious task that Slash has already done countless times; Snakepit MK I, Snakepit MK II, VR, and again with VR after Scott left. If they didn't find anybody they liked in 2009, they probably won't now. Unless that Greta Van Fleet singer wants to ditch his brother and that band, lol. He's got a great voice being wasted on mediocre songwriting. Quote

SMKC is just an outlet for Slash to get out there and play and make music with his buddies 1 Quote
Ralphelmo Posted October 17 Author Posted October 17 Hard Skool has 4.4M views, The River is Rising (released one year later) 4.0M views. Killing Floor 4.7M views in 7 months. Noyce. Apparently Gibson Records does the job properly. 3 Quote

No doubt, especially with his wife and little child. I follow them on social media, they look like a nice family. I appreciate his contributions to GN'R and Velvet Revolver over the years. I'd love to find a physical copy of the recalled version of his book, or, at the very least, the digital version. Quote

Popular Post Ralphelmo Posted October 23 Author Popular Post Posted October 23 Myles Kennedy spoke about the status of the songwriting sessions for the next SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "The process technically started when we were on the road earlier this year. During soundchecks and stuff, we started working on some ideas. And at this point, [the other guys are] down there essentially demoing stuff, and then I get updates on a nightly basis, generally just where things are. And then that allows me to work on my melodies and work on the lyrics and whatnot. And so, yeah, the trick for me, since I'm getting ready to embark on this [solo] tour in Europe next week is finding a window when I'll actually be able to go track my vocals. But, yeah, they're in the thick of it right now and I'm really loving what I'm hearing." 4 1 Quote

Elvis is back! He more or less kinda confirmed that when someone asked that very question. Was hoping for Mike Clink, but I’d welcome the return of Elvis too. He makes great sounding albums with them too! 1 Quote

evilfacelessturtle Posted October 28 Posted October 28 I don't think the new album is a top secret project, but it could be some kind of side band to the side band? Quote
MaskingApathy Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Would be cool if Clink is involved too, although it seems confirmed that Elvis is recording and producing it. Quote
Free Bird Posted October 28 Posted October 28 The SMKC record is already announced so it can’t be the top secret project. Quote

He's got a great voice being wasted on mediocre songwriting. Scott Weiland brought a huge amount of talent to VR. He was already famous before VR. Stone Temple Pilots was great. Sure, he was difficult, an addict, and what not. But his voice, song writing skills and persona was simply bigger than Myles will ever be. That's why VR was bigger than SMKC. Don't get me wrong, I love Myles. He has some great songs and especially on slower songs he can even sound great. And I love the fact that he seems easy going and gets along great with Slash. There are some Alter Bridge songs I like. But Scott was simply on another level. Myles is more technical, has more range, can play guitar really well... but Scott just had something special. 3 1 Quote
moreblack Posted October 28 Posted October 28 It was never going to work beyond the one album (Contraband). By the time they started work on Libertad, the cracks were already showing. By the end of the tour he couldn't run back to STP fast enough. This wasn't his style of music. Quote

Agreed, it's the same reason I don't care about Yngwie Malmsteen. Sure, he's impressive, but he doesn't connect to your soul like Slash or David Gilmour. Quote
MaskingApathy Posted November 4 Posted November 4 According to TK on Instagram today is the first day of recording the new album. Hope to see some behind the scenes stuff as they go. 4 Quote
