According to TK on Instagram today is the first day of recording the new album. Hope to see some behind the scenes stuff as they go.

You know they will. Slash always comes through with the goods for that kind of stuff.

If not, it would be a hint that he doesn’t take SMKC that seriously anymore but I think he’ll come up with something interesting, as always.

Scott Weiland brought a huge amount of talent to VR. He was already famous before VR. Stone Temple Pilots was great.

Sure, he was difficult, an addict, and what not. But his voice, song writing skills and persona was simply bigger than Myles will ever be. That's why VR was bigger than SMKC.

Don't get me wrong, I love Myles. He has some great songs and especially on slower songs he can even sound great. And I love the fact that he seems easy going and gets along great with Slash. There are some Alter Bridge songs I like.

But Scott was simply on another level. Myles is more technical, has more range, can play guitar really well... but Scott just had something special.

Yeah it's not fair to compare. Scott is absolute top tier rock vocalist. certainly the best 2/3 of the 90s/00s era and he was one of the last genuine all round frontmen in rock music. myles is a much safer bet, solid, a bit meh but occasionally spectacular. he's not gonna OD on tour or punch the soundman.

I agree. I remember many years ago, before VR dissolved, some Guns fans complained about Scott dressing like a male stripper on stage. :P

But… but you know he will punch the air above his head

Top tier frontman, not top tier vocalist. First STP album is great vocally (and so was the MTV Unplugged), each next record he's on the vocals are worse and worse, imo. But as a frontman he was one of the greatest out there, charismatic and hard to handle.

can't wait for this album to come out, I'm hyped and at least some of it is always killer for me so Slash having a good feeling about it is cool to know.

wonder how long for the first single to drop, this band works fast.

I think slash said they were gonna record it quickly but then sit on it for like a year or so, to not interfere with GnR’s 2025 plans.

Slash fans need to join together in a clash action lawsuit to stop him wasting his music on Myles and his shitty songwriting.

Funny thing.  I could say the same thing in the opposite direction.  I hate to say it, but to me, I find the stuff Myles does with Slash, nowadays, really lacking and uninspiring compared to what he did in his new solo album.

Look, people may not want this band to continue for x,y,z reasons, but it's happening, and we all just have to deal with it.

Sometime next year I guess, depends on when the GnR tour is. My guess is that it'll be out in the fall.

If Elvis is involved then it's going to be a good record imo.

Hope Gibson or whoever is making a documentary for this album too. I loved the Ernie Ball one for the recording process of WoF.

I loved how they rerecorded the whole album 4 live (Studios 60). That was a great way to experience the record imo.

I hope Elvis will put some air into the music, like he did in this song, production-wise its nothing like any of AB records. Unfortunately the latest MK album is just pure wall of sound which I hate.

It was ok but not as good as when they actually hit the road and were playing shows. To me Studio 60 looks and feels like a rehearsal.

It’s what I go back to when I want to listen to this record. The US shows were more fun probably but the European tour, two years after 4 was released, wasn’t that good imo. Definitely the worst SMKC show I went to. It was still a good show but not as much fun as the shows before.

The only decent way, tbh.

You don't have to be technically impressive to be a great vocalist. Just like Slash's playing, it's about the sound and feelings it evokes, not showing off their ability. Scott's voice has a lot of character.

it's a genre that is focused more about feel, like punk for example only maybe to a lesser extent, at least when it comes to guitar. like I've said before, Slash has all the technique he will ever need as a hard rock guitar player imo.

when it comes to vocalists in the genre I don't think Zeppelin or Gn'R for example would have sounded the same without the impressive technical ability of the singers but for me it's not a deal breaker.

like you've said, Scott had personality in his voice but he was limited technically and I wonder if that prevented Slash from doing some things he wanted to do with a more technical singer like Myles or Axl before him. he went more for the more technical able singer with snakepit 1 as well at least.

it's like Van Halen and Van Hagar kinda thing personality before ability for me which is why I prefer the classic Van Halen era with Dave even though he really is not a very good singer technically speaking.
