Popular Post Dean
Tommy interviewed by Otis Gibbs. Not really anything new, but he touches on playing Rio with Guns, using in-ear monitors for the first time and how physically demanding the touring cycle is with a band of that size. If you haven't already, check out Stinson's latest record 'Wronger', and if you aren't familiar with his discography, treat your ears! Voodoochild
Rio's 2001 sound sucked. And you can tell that the band had several technical difficulties throughout. IMO, the Vegas show was far superior sound-wise (still far from perfect, though).

Yeah a lot of people highlight the guitars in particular as being mixed horribly, though, it sounds like a really energetic performance, where as the 2002 soundboards sound really polished - so for me, the Rio show has a happy medium in that regard. It’s still in my regular rotation. To my ears, it’s the best rendition of November Rain, Finck totally shines - I don’t understand why going forward they shared the solos out among the guitarists, the song suffered as a result IMO!
superloconoriega
love Stinson, that interview was very interesting but it's very hard not to chuckle hearing a rich rockstar talk about how hard it is to roll your luggage around airports "hungover at 3am". I think I like the more rich and tight Vegas performance. Also, it had Riad, my personal favorite. 2 hours ago, superloconoriega said: love Stinson, that interview was very interesting but it's very hard not to chuckle hearing a rich rockstar talk about how hard it is to roll your luggage around airports "hungover at 3am". Dean
Otis has since published the full interview which I've added to the post. I'm assuming the interview was recorded prior to the release of Wronger, if that is the case, then Tommy is working on another solo album along with another Bash & Pop record - Friday Night is Killing Me is up there with the best albums of the 90's for me, it's that good. Check it out if you haven't already, there might be a few things on there that you like.
Popular Post username
And just if anyone wants a sense of Tommy's broader discography (bands he sings in): 1993 - Bash & Pop - Friday Night Is Killing Me 1995 - Perfect - When Squirrels Play Chicken EP 2004 - Tommy Stinson - Village Gorilla Head 2004 - Perfect - Once, Twice, Three Times a Maybe (recorded in 1996) 2011 - Tommy Stinson - One Man Mutiny 2017 - Bash & Pop - Anything Could Happen 2023 - Cowboys In The Campfire - Wronger I'd argue there's not a bad album in there, but personally I think Village Gorilla Head and Anything Could Happen are his best. <3
Sweersa
I enjoy Tommy's interviews. Seems like a chill dude. It's a shame his bass playing is too buried in the 2008 GN'R album. He sounds killer on the demos.
WhazUp
I haven't kept up with Tommy's projects too much since he left GNR, I know it has been 10ish years since but man I almost didn't recognize him in that video thumbnail! ZoSoRose
I had a blast randomly stumbling into Tommy and listening to his set in a record shop, last month!
Amir
It's funny how he can't remember Dave Navarro's name when they both played on Oh My God (though obviously they were never in the studio together) 1
