I think the easiest way to put for you is mathematical terms....I'm not saying conclusively, Fort Knox door slammed in our faces music locked....but I'm saying his actions for decades speak to someone that is 95% (generous) not concerned with releasing (and certainly NOT making it from scratch) music.

He's 5% concerned and it took (it seems) a massive leak and the likelihood of future ones to finally throw a few bones...

Just as well, as at this point official Guns have been taken over by in the unofficially released discography department which, for Axl, as a control freak, has to be a disaster in wanting to control your own narrative department

It obvious he hasn't been concerned with creating and releasing new music in a long time. No one can argue that. The problem begins when we try to attribute reasons for this and try to extrapolate into the future. But as I said above, he clearly doesn't want to record and release new music now. Still, he is just a weird guy, I wouldn't be the least surprised if this suddenly changed, due to fluctuating chemicals in his brain or as a result of having reached some milestone in releasing old songs or whatever. I am very careful to not interpret the slowness of which he operates, or the fact that he has stopped communicating, as much evidence for anything beyond a realization that to him time works differently.

Just watched vid on first page. Did anything come from this?

Seems Tom got a letter from GnR lawyers and he’s gone dark

You talking about the guy who released four singles over the last few years? Obviously, he wants the music to come out on his terms and fights to prevent leaks. Like most artists. Nothing different there. The difference is that he just spends incredibly long to get his music out.

His terms but those releases are most likely used as part of the negotiation to put on these tours. Perhaps possibly fulfill some marketing commitments

Chinese Democracy…it’s an idea that seems like a good idea on the surface but it’s something you’ll never see in your lifetime. Maybe this stuff was never meant to be released

He just had to preamble like fuck instead of cutting to the chase! Guess he's scared, because you surely can't sue someone for talking/showing/telling but not sharing....

Surely he's not still under contract anyway?

Funny thing is....Prince is probably my favourite artist of all time...

He fed us almost 40 albums during life though despite the crazy lawsuits

...

And countless more in his vault!

Is that something that GNR lawyers could do? I mean, he didn't say he would leak anything. He could even say he got lots of new songs without mentioning any titles.

Lawyers can do anything and threats are certainly in their toolkit. Whether whatever they said would hold up in a courtroom is a different matter. That being said, I assume they threatened with litigation if he shared anything confidential, which would extend to simply mentioning what the contents are including song titles.

Absolutely! Lawyers can and do make any threats they want. They could ask or demand him to turn in all of his computers, phones, hard drives, etc. They can get nasty. Of course, you can or have a lawyer counter such requests. (It can get messy)

Again, he can "sell it". No bank transfers, no phones, nothing. "I met a guy in front of a bar, I think his name was Tod (but I'd had a few...), he offered me dough, I brought it, handed it over, received cash, and that's all I remember. If he leaked it, that's on him, your honor." There you go.

I think that could be the illegal act of fencing, e.g. benefitting monetary on the sale of material that is not yours to sell. So not an explanation I would present to a judge. You could of course claim someone stole it off you or that you lost it. Depending on what professional and personal integrity you might have. I doubt anyone would want to get involved with him professionally if he did indeed leak confidential material from a former client and then blatantly lied about it.

I believe that if Tom did anything questionable or worse with material, he would be wise to not say anything at all about it, in any setting, legal or otherwise.

I see, you may be onto something there.

It’s still not his property to sell or hand over. Even the physical copies. Kind of like a company issued computer

Threatening legal action should be enough here. Could Zutant afford to fight it? They could bleed him dry just from the process as punishment if it got out there

Ok, "stolen" would be the way then. There are still options.
