Assuming this wasn’t a ploy for YT hits, Tom needs to speak to the key guy in the Village leaks. We all know who that was but I’m not gonna mention here so as not to prejudice anything. 4 Quote
SoulMonster Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Yeah, if you snooze, you lose. Axl has every right to protect him material from illegal distribution, but it also brings it upon himself by not getting it officially released. 2 1 Quote

Popular Post username Posted November 15, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2024 And there goes our final change to ever hear all the CD-era songs (with Silkworms snare). Oh dear me. 4 hours ago, jamillos said: Put it out, chickens. You can't *just* release 2002-era music in 2024. First you have to make it much, much worse and do a terrible mix/production of it that you can then put out with barely any promotion at all. And only at a rate of 2 songs every 3 years. It's basic science really. 2 1 2 7 1 2 Quote

DTJ80 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Where is it being reported he has been contacted by TB/GNR? And what exactly is the issue with him showing the haul - I know there will be issues regarding ownership etc but if it was stolen from him and it’s been returned….what’s stopping him detailing what it was before (potentially handing it over)? I agree that he should be able to show us, the legal letter he received pointed out that the comments section in his video shows him confirming that there is music, and that is what called attention to the situation. Had it been just memorabilia items then there would not be an issue. 2 Quote
Sweersa Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 It would be interesting to see what else the band had up until Tom's departure that wasn't included in the Village leaks. There's probably a few or more with vocals we didn't get, and a bunch more instrumentals. My personal holy grail would be a bunch of/all material from 2002-2005 (pre-Bumblefoot). 1 Quote
ZODIAC Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 So... Did he finally get his hands on the discs? Quote
guitarpatch Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) No one is going to be stupid enough to claim to have material and then actually leak it. Well…no one is stupid enough to do it again. This is being done to garner attention whether they have anything of substance or not. Nothing more Getting a legal letter is due diligence on behalf of GNR Edited November 15, 2024 by guitarpatch 2 Quote

I mean - the dearth of stuff happening these days….just KNOWING what it could be keeps speculations/discussions going on here! It’s no different to those photos of the Machine Gun stuff in that storage facility…as much as we want to hear this stuff….just any kind of details is good stuff! bmus1 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 If that letter is real and someone with some unreleased mixes had a vendetta against this guy, they could seriously eff his life up. 1 Quote
rocknroll41 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Called it. Like I said, the band definitely still reads this forum (hi Axl). 3 1 Quote
Guest Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Zutaut's first video on this drew less than 800 views in 10 days. Nobody cares anymore about this stuff, at least not compared to a few years ago. If his intent was to drive traffic to his Youtube channel it didn't seem to work. Quote
themadcaplaughs Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Despite all the sob stories these people tell on Appetite for Distortion and other media, I can see why GN'R are hesitant of managers and "label people" after Alan Niven, Tom, and Doug Goldstein. Not saying I would not have been the first in line had Tom actually leaked anything (not that he was ever going to), but in no way, shape, or form is this behavior of professionals. You do not see Irving Azoff making YouTube videos about driving to his storage locker to pick up decades old CDs with demos on them. 3 1 Quote

He’s the most powerful person in the industry and whatever work he did with Axl/GNR is a footnote on his resume at best These people aren’t exactly at the top of the game in the industry any longer. They got whatever power/notoriety they had from being alongside the band at its peak. Once that was over, they couldn’t use the experience to launch themselves upwards in any other substantial work in the industry. Once the band either didn’t trust them, they moved on to other people or the band didn’t have as much pull at the label after the mergers happened, their ride at that level was essentially over 1 1 Quote

WhazUp Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I still occasionally load up that article done about the Village Session locker room saga and with as many crazy GNR personalities that were involved as there were it is insane those managed to find the light of day to begin with lol. I am not waiting with baited breath for these things that Tom got to leak out Quote
gavgnr Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Gotta admit, dude looks good tho Hope he’s enjoying all that shit we wanna hear Quote
