Guest kevdo24
I think its UK mainly because:Eric ClaptonJimmy PageSlash (gained his USA citizenship after Gn'R split up so this applies only to the Gn'R era)Paul KossoffRitchie Blackmore ( i think he's British)Tony IommiAdrian SmithDave MurrayThis is all based on their impact on guitar music. Larkoth
tough one to call, both the US and the UK have bloody good guitarists, so i'm gonna take a back seat on this one, don't think it can be pinned down at all!

Big Boy Sixxx
UK but the US have a strong case with a certain Mr Dimebag Darrell, plus i think he's Zakk Wyld's best mate. Hammet is fast but it sounds too mechanical without any real feeling. US got too many of those Sum 187, Blink 41 types
Hampi
Kirky boy is very average guitarist, sure he can play fast but wheres the heart? James Hetfield plays some solid riffs but he's no trophy guitarist for the Usa. I say the Uk simply because of people like page who influenced many Us guitarists that followed no end. steve vai, Satch and many others both speak very highly of him. To me EVH will always be a dutch man! Edited October 29, 2004 by The_night train

stratomaster
^ Also, another one that hasn't been mentioned for the UK is Jeff Beck, who just happens to be one of the best ever
Raas
many say ace frehley is overrated,I think that's true,he has influenced many but I don't think he's technically very good/original.If that's what we're talking about? One guitarist who's very underrated is mick mars, not that he's very technical but a great player.Slash isn't a shredder either but you hear that it's slash when he plays.Very original. cold*heartbreaker
I'm voting for UK. US has some good ones but to me not many people can top Jimmy Page. I think Roger Waters is amazing too. Slash is up there too.
Genesis
Waters was the bassist. Gilmour was the guitarist, and a great one he is too.
