Wild_Child Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Pearl Jam, i find Kurt Cobain really annoying but Nirvanas songs are quite good. I just prefer Pearl Jam all round. Quote

merslain Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Pearl Jam....Nirvana is good, but pearl jam takes the cake...they have better vocals, better lyrics, and better muscians....with maybe the exception of drummers Grohl is amaing...but Gosard and McCreedy are just amazing...and Eddy can really sing and put his heart into a peice...Also they have stood the test of time, its impossible to say where Nirvana would be these days, so i won't even speculate..but i kNow Pearl Jam still can pack stadiums..listen to any of their live shows form 2000 or 2003, check out the NY DVD they released, amazing.... Doghan Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Nirvana..better in studio and live!.. They were a steaming pile of turd live. Quote
Bono Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 pearl jam have the sales, but nirvana always seemed to have songs with such deep emotion. i recon both bands are good, what do you think Pearl Jam is by far the better band. better lyrics, better music, in my opinion they are the far more emotional band. the songs mean more. Pearl jam is the shit. nirvan are good but overrated. they rode the success of Smells like teen Spirit and benifited(sad but true) from kurt's ill timed death. I mean Nirvana are more popular after he died than when he was alive. Eddie Vedder is everything Kurt always seemed to claim hen wanted to be. Pearl Jam Hands down is better. Not even close in my opinion. Quote
GNRIllusion91 Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 They both have a totally different sound...Personally I like Nirvana much better, but Pearl Jam's musicianship is excellent! Pearl Jam live is excellent, early live shows were filled with alot of energy, now they are alittle older, but still put on amazing shows. Nirvana has more of what an "alternative" sound should sound like, Pearl Jam has more of a strait rock sound. About Nirvana live, it depends, they were not always tight. In 1991 (when the band was getting popular) they were the shows with the most energy. 1992 had still some good shows, but Cobain's drug abuse took its toll on his live performance. 1993's shows started horribly, Cobain was so messed up, he started forgetting alot of words, and chords, and his voice lost alot of its high-end. Then when the In Utero tour started they recruited Pat Smear who retought Cobain some of his songs, taught him to sing better, and of coarse play rhythm guitar. By '94, they were very tight, but Cobain was on his last leg, months later he died... Quote
