slash_demigod
Not at all really. You'll find country music to be popular in rural areas (obviously) but no one listens to it in Melbourne really. Not that I know of anyway.
Rumin
It popular among older people. But I would say only about 1 out of 10 people are really into country music here.

Gigger
No... Country music's popularity in America is one of life's unsolved mysteries...
Spoon87
No. Country isn't popular.but we have "Volksmusik" but then i'd even prefer listening to Country i guess
gernm18
^ is not that popular here(in california), i think it might be popular in the south but who knows, and to answer another question i think country here is like .. traditional music among those southern states, so my guess is that there are equivalents for it in other nations but they wont necessary sound country do u know what i mean
JeanGenie
no it ain't popular.
ryne
I know this question was for people outta the US, but I hate Wisconsin sometimes, it seems like half of the white girls have a favorite country singer then the rednecks blast the stuff like there's a revolution unfolding. Country's gotta be the only popular stuff I dislike more than Hip-Hop.Edit: Don't make me start about the old people and the small towns... Guest RED
Anytime any country act plays over in Ireland the likes of Dolly Parton,The Dixie Chicks,Gareth Brooks in his hey day,Willie Nelson they always sell out in no time. Then again that goes for all types of music over here. Wreckless_Life
I saw a bit of the country music awards last night, it's definitely one of the worst forms of music - right up there with opera. Every song seems to be about drinking whiskey and beer. But damn some of the female singers are hot.
Woman
No, american country music isn't popular here at all. We have folk music and popular folk-influenced music, but it's way too different. Hip-hop and rock are popular. And other styles.I don't like hip-hop. Never understood it.
DeadRoses
There is alot of cool country tho, i like alot of country, its just all the mainstream stuff is gay, but Chris LeDoux, he is like one of my fave singers and he is country, so dont hate something till you know more about it, david allen coe, is awsome too, although he is more of a comedian, lol
