WTTJ intro

I was trying to get out the intro for welcome to the jungle at home on my guitar (very amaturely) i can actually play the riff (very shakily) but it always sounds a lot fuller on afd...

Mine sounds very weak (since im only strumming one string) Now obviously my 600 dollar guitar and amp isn't going to produce the same quality as the thousands of dollars worth of equipment that the pro's have, but is the riff i was using the same as on the album???

i.e.

---------------------------

---------------------------

-4-4-2-2----------------

-----------4-4-2-2-0----

-----------------------2--

---------------------------

(therabouts... I got the strings back to frong but yeah, is that the riff??)

Thanks...

I am only a beginner so please turn a blind eye to my ignorance if any!

The effect that SLASH uses is called a Delay. If you pick the note, it rings a few extra times. This is why the intro starts out slower, (as the notes are hit a single time) and then floods with notes (as they are repeately picked). When the notes are hit a few times, you get this echo-ey kind of feel. The Edge from U2 uses this as his signature sound (ref. Where the Streets have No Name).

Keep playing, my son. I am proud.  ;)

Yup ya got the right notes there, but the delay is very important.  Try setting the delay to .25 or .30 seconds and turning the distortion up a bit more, it will sound alot like it, I've been practicing with it and sounds pretty good!  Also, if you dont have a delay on ur amp and i'm not sure if most do anyways, this is what I do.  If you have a decent sound system for your computer, get Guitar FX BOX from download.com, then buy a connector that converts the guitar cord to a headphone size jack, plug your guitar in, put the connector on and put the other end into your mic in on the back of your soundcard, then just unmute the mic from the sound control panel.  Then start up the program, hit the start button and play with a crap load of cool effects.  If you have nice speakers and sound card, you will get a real nice sound.

Yea those are the right strings , you got it . For more GnR Tabs you should pick up the GnR Anthology book , I got it and it's awesome it tells you the tuning , effects and all the right notes . I'm sure they'll have it in any musiva store down by you , If you haven't got it already , It is about 27.00 here in the states but I have no idea what''ll it be Down Under  ;)

 Peace GnR Nation 8)
