little_witch
That argument is only logical if Axl had cancelled because the fans showed up an hour and a half late. Face it. He didn't cancel that show, the fans (at least the vast majority) would have waited. The venue f*cked up. And I have no doubt most of the fans that were screwed out of that show feel the same way. holydiver
mr_sparkle not every performer. every pop performer craving for fast gains... but you'll get over it with time.. just one more time i want to see how it feels writting it : lame as* gay pop britney spears childish brainwashed [glow=red,2,300]MTV[/glow] lamer awards.. wow...little witch axl f*cked up first because he wasn't there on time. the venue is a corporation and does only its job. axl should be there on time. everything else is just an excuse. listen to how lame it sounds :"i would only be late for 2 hours and they didn't wait... it's not my fault.." madison
... madison when you have a date at 11.00 and you go at 12:30 it's your fault. not the restaurants fault that closed and didn't wait for you and your date to eat...Yes, but if I booked that restaurant exclusively for myself for the entire evening and my date is still there waiting for me when I arrive, then I don't see why we couldn't still eat. And don't forget, in GNR's case, the fans were there and no doubt willing to wait. LOL, you are so way off base.. Every perfomer basically goes through MTV to promote their stuff. Not every performer sells pepsi and plays with Britney. There is a line to cross, and Slash has crossed it. Axl has not stepped over the line. Once again, if he sold pepsi or coke or Dodge Vans.. I would say he has stepped over the line.. But saying he is a sellout for using MTV "MUSIC TELEVSION" to promote his album is just lame. I don't recall Comdex being "Music Comdex" or pepsi being "Pepsi Music" get a clue man... :Agreed.

I haven't seen the contract, have you?Even if he did though, I heard the show was scrapped around 7:30 or 8 -- which falls well within his "restaurant" booking time. Also, Axl's handlers have indicated that Axl would have arrived by 10:30 or 11 at the latest -- leaving plenty of time to perform. Would I prefer Axl start his shows on time? Of course. Am I surprised when he doesn't? Not in the least -- that's the way he's been all his GNR life.
little_witch
If Axl had been there at 5:30 and taken the stage at exactly when he was scheduled to you ahve bagged him for something else, HD, because that's what you do. Must have been quite a relief that he made it so easy for you.
gnrlies
"Slash is a rock god! It's all about music for him! And after all he does have to make a living!"Well if he's so god awful great and he's just trying to make a living and he's all about the fans maybe he should spend his time creating something for them instead of wasting all of his time appearing on VH1 and making guest appearances anywhere they'll have him. And how anyone could mention Elton John and Pink in the same breath is beyond me.Is it just me or does this have no accuracy to it whatsoever.....2 snakepit records and a new band with the old members. Doesn't that qualify for new material. And as for the whole sellout. I mean if you classify playing with other performers who arent rock musicians, then fine, slash has sold out. But i consider selling out as a situation where they have taken credibility out of their music for a shitload of money (i.e. playing in commercials etc)Only Comdex comes even close to this, but its worth mentioning that slash was there with / on behalf of Gibson guitars becuase the Gibson CEO was up there with him playing. (gibson were there becuase they are on their way to make the first fully digital guitar with AMD)I mean if you wanna say slash is a bigger sellout than axl then fine, he is, but i wouldnt go as far to say that slash is a huge sellout, or that he has "sold out" becuase he hasn't done anythign! little_witch
I'll concede that Slash has done something. Just nothing of any particular importance. Maybe if he'd spent more time on those albums instead of hanging out at VH1 they would have sold better.
holydiver
maybe he already stated that he didn't want to do anything more than a "party album". then again gay [glow=red,2,300]MTV[/glow] awards sure is something to do in 10 years abscence... little_witch
Oh but I don't rave about how Axl is always out there working and all about his fans. He made a very conscious decision to stay out of the public eye and do it his way and in his time. I don't claim he's the people's patron saint. Carne_asaDA
Will someone please name one artist that went mainstream and did not do any other projects that you would consider "Selling Out''?? Maybe Slash's aspirations before he joined bands was to LET THE WORLD hear his guitar playing and it wasn't just joining a rock in roll band. For those who are bashing Slash for making "his own" choices, what are you going to say about Axl when he releases his album and there is a bunch of pop, techno, and hip hop influences in them??? Because you know there will be. He already said so. You can tell by the way he dresses on and off stage that he has "sold out" or should i say "bought in". Slash never tried to sell "image" anyways. But who are we to judge?? No matter what Slash does or Axl does, they both make more money than probably everyone that visits this board put together. Break down the f*cking category barriers and enjoy the music!!!!

Carne_asaDA
So what projects he does on the side should not be of a concern to you. If so, quit being so judgemental and get a life!!!

I shall now refer to you as Slash's body guard.
Carne_asaDA
I am not being a Slash bodyguard. I am just saying, there really is no such thing as selling out. Especially when you are doing what you do "playing guitar'' and that is what he was doing. It's not like he was being a spokesperson for the company. Even though he got on stage at a Pink show, i don't think he sold out. I think that is pretty f*cking cool that he is spreading the GnR and hard rock sounds to kids and people who never really been exposed to that music.Did Aerosmith sell out when they collaborated with Run DMC?? Hell no!!!! They created something BIG!!
little_witch
OMG(dess)! You don't conceive of Aerosmith's collaboration with Run DMC a sellout?!! That was a sellout on a scale Slash will never be capable of.
