DAYS OF THE NEW founder Travis Meeks has been recording demos with the new band of former GUNS N' ROSES members Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass), Izzy Stradlin (guitar), and Matt Sorum (drums), and the resultant efforts sound "astoundingly incredible," according to Jonathan Hay, Meeks' partner in Distillery Music Group LLC.

"Slash, Izzy, Duff and Matt have all been working on new material that I have been blessed with the opportunity to hear and witness recorded," Hay said in a press release sent exclusively to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "Travis Meeks has been laying his vocals over the tracks they have submitted.

"This is the best rock music I have heard since 'Appetite for Destruction'," Hay continued in the press release. "GUNS N' ROSES and DAYS OF THE NEW fans will not be disappointed. They will be ecstatic! The new material has that vintage GNR feel that millions craved and loved in the late Eighties and early Nineties. I can honestly say that as a witness, this band (tentatively titled 'THE PROJECT') is back and better then ever. Travis Meeks and the remaining members sound completely natural, comfortable, and astoundingly incredible. Travis, like [GUNS N' ROSES frontman] Axl [Rose], is from Indiana. Both diverged from their original bands. This is a match made among the stars with a sound that is out of this world."

It is presently unclear if Meeks will in fact officially become the lead singer of the new band formed by the ex-GNR members or if their collaboration will go no further than these demo recordings.

In the meantime, Travis, who has been involved as a label executive for Distillery Music Group LLC, has also been busy working on a new DAYS OF THE NEW album, "Purple", due out next year.

The follow-up to "Red Album", which was released in September 2001, features "sounds that can be likened to that of his multi-platinum debut album, 'Orange'," according to the press release. "However, this album [surpasses] the aforementioned chart-topper. [Travis'] voice, songwriting, producing, guitar playing and overall talent have matured to levels that exceed perfection. The DAYS OF THE NEW sound has finally evolved into what Travis Meeks, at only 23, has been straining to achieve his whole life. The newest album will return him to the public eye and award him the praise he so rightly deserves."
