Tilki....I haven't heard from you in awhile.  Folks. believe the posts re Robin.  Yep, the Robin Finck guru has spoken and I do mean it in a heartfelt way.  Thanks for informing us and not someone's speculation or assumption of events.

Axl must have chosen Buckethead for a reason (a very good reason, whatever it was, in my opinion).  Axl's obviously in a different place now than he was 10 years ago.  The band is more mature (aren't we all? apparently not on this board . . .)  So far it seems like the energy of the band is not so sexually aggressive and violent like it was before (judging from the MSG show).  I for one am relieved.  I don't want to hear hatred and anger and misogyny anymore.  The world has changed--there's no place for that now.

I think Buckethead fits in perfectly with the new-style GNR that Axl seems to be developing.  Buckethead elevates the band with his virtuoso guitar-playing and elaborate persona.  No one can deny that the man is extremely talented, and his stage presence is [glow=red,2,300]magical[/glow](Must be from all that time spent at Disneyland  :D)

Yeagh agree with you on that one the talent thing but he still looks like a dork. Perhaps its MY more mature ways now more than then ...but I find it silly to have to hide behind a gimmick when your selling "serious well thought out music" To me I see it just like SlipKnot does... sell a bit of shock value.  I certainly don't think that he plays that role but the whole chicken thing is so uncool in the shadow of GNR's legacy. I'm sure its all part of the plan but to me the whole goth/hiphop/rocker/punk /bizzaro thing is a gimmick. Its so kitzchy... so well though out and schemed.

buckethead is not just a very unique and talented guitar player, he has also a very unique appearence. His Nun-Chaku action, his robot-like dance and all is a fantastic show.

GNr sound different today. so you better get used to a GNR who have growen up, became deeper and are exploring new musical avenues.

Buckethead is not a uniquely talented guitarist!!!!!!!!!!Plenty of guitarists are far better than he is. The only reason Axl has hired him is to create a sensation, and to try and get people onto his side. I doubt that you actually play guitar!!!!!

The Nr.1 reason Axl hired him is that he is one of the best out there. Buckethead can be named in a row with Vai, Malmsteen, etc. I cannot play guitar, but I know this guy is better than almost everyone out there. Axl does not need a "sensation" like a guy with a bucket on his head and a white mask on his face. Playing the songs and hearing the band is sensation enough!

I doubt you ever heard ONE solo album from him, like Colma of Monsters and Robots. AE87 !!

Cause if you did, you'd know, if you like his sound or not, he can play like a god.

If only Axl would pull his head out of his A S S and get back with Slash and the other members then he wouldn't have to play with some robot man with a bucket on his head that can't talk as his bucket persona, but the world isn't perfect, only ugly.

I speaketh what's on my mind

this makes sense i agree with this

::) ::) ::) Really: Who needs Slash?  ::) ::) ::)

He is only a part of that big nostalgic picture some of you have in your head.

Slash is past, Buckethead is present.

Buckethead is (oh gee, i've said this once or twice ::)) far more talented, intelligent and a far more unique guitar player than Slash.

WAKE UP, NEW GNR IS HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GET F#CKING USED TO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

may i ask what is wrong with prefering slash over buckethead and wishing that slash was still in the band??

It might be surprising to some members on this board that some people are fans of GNR for slash and co as well as axl.....

I mean to say that this is GNR now is stupid. I mean sure, its better than nothing and thats why i give it 100% support, but i mean that doesn't mean that we should have to bag slash out etc. I mean almost everyone (except the right (or left, whichever the crazy side is) wing nutters on this board *Cough GF, Mr Sparkle")  wants the old band to reunite, and although we aknowledge that this is very unlikely, it doesn't mean we cant dream or propose such an event...

absolutely nothing is wrong with that, if you ask me. The reason why I have no problem with the fact that Slash is in GNR nomore is that I don't miss him as a person. You may miss him as a really good player, but I don't do that either, 'cause I think GNR needs some fresh air, sth. new, someone who can play the f#ck out of old and new songs, and I love Axl for deciding to bring Buckethead as a new lead guitarist. Axl is still the most important member of GNR, you can easily replace a instrumental member like a drummer or abass player, or even a lead guitarist.

gnrlies,

First of all, I like GF and Sparkle.

You may ask.

You remind me of an Elvis impersonator.  Elvis and Slash are both over their heyday.  It looks stupid to beat your head against the wall repeatedly.  Wanting the old band to unite is your dream, I accept and love the new.

I wonder who is the best all round entertainer?  Hmmm... Axl or Slash.  Of course, Axl!!!!!  Get over it!

Neither gutarist is particularly good, however, slash is perfect for GnR, and giving the current setlist, would be better.  new material will probably suit bucketheads style, but at the moment they are playing very little of this

Mantis.......thank god somebady agrees with me. I think Buckethead was an awsome add on to GNR. He is one of the most talented musicians out there and the most bizare adding to the band.  I think the whole chicken bucket and mask thing is even more rock and roll and adds to the persona. I mean look at fucking KISS they are the rockinest band in the universe besides GNR and they were all about looking crazy and acting GOOFY fuck you guys that think Buckethead is a fag!

but you see the thing is that no-one here can talk shit about "liking new stuff"

GNR is an old band.. I mean you wouldn't be here unless you originally liked the old band... I mean Jimgnr talks about this stuff and he's right... I mean i support the new band (which is where me and jimgnr differ) but fuck he's right!... I mean this is a band of hired guns trying to fill the shoes of a band.. I mean GNR will always be the old band.. This band can NEVER be considered GNR.. (aside from all name technifications). I for one am a fan of GNR, and this is a side project of one of the ex members that i am supporting.

Now if you have problems with some people supporting GNr (as in the old band) then you are the biggest hypocrite in the world since you wouldn't be here unless you yourself liked the old band.

And if you want to say move on etc, then I can say the exact same thing back. I mean you are deluded for following a band thinking it is actually GNR... I mean theres nothing wrong with supporting them, but i mean at least dont say "move on" to me becuase you are 10 times worse in believing that this really IS gnr and that

the old guys were expendable (i.e. if you were to say move on you would have to be a fan of new rock.... You would have to be a fan of a band that isn't from the 80's)

By the way, im not bagging the new band out, or criticising people for liking the new band, i am just pointing out that you cant criticise other people for liking the real Gnr......
