rockerman
MADISON.....You in particular cuz you might not wanted to hear my review!!WERE GOING BACK TO THE JUNGLE!! Moline's GNR stop was the best f$$#@@en show I have ever seen!!INCLUDING 87 and 91 They were good but this was great. !WHEWW blew my skeptical critical heart away. I was expecting T BEST a halfway decent show but from opening notes of Welcome to the Jungle to Paradise City they ended all doubt that the new reality might not be so bad. Note for note the fellas absolutely rocked! Axl screwed up My Michelle by starting the song out with the second verse but out side of that it was Grand. SOUND A+ BAND COHESION/CHEMISTRY A+ (still trying to get the Buckethead thing)WHY? eidently the new material must call for three guitarists. Robin wailed on guitar while BUckethead just stood there.Mechanically distant.... he tossed a rubberchicken out to the crowd. VisuaLS were awesome.... Only three new songs .. The blues. Madagascar and Chinese Democracy Same playlists that the previous shows had.Axl wore a Tennesse Vols jersy until the Encore and then he changed into a Quad Citys Mallards Jersy. He ran around more than he did in 91 and 92!! SAME OL AXL !! He busted some fella trying to bootleg and had him tossed out of the show. I THINK. He said I"ll thake your fucken Phone Away from you" then the security jumped in and took over.....the closest to a rant he got was telling the fans not to throw $ hit at them....like some F*$# ucker in Minnisota.....OH the fireworks and the fire pots will blow you away they were so awesome! I have never seen those kind of graphics. For all you people going to the shows SKIP THE OPENING ACTS THEY SUCK. CKY is at best a garage band but were light years away from MIXMASTER MIKE Totally inappropriate. BOOHISSS Wish I would have sat in my car and drank a few more brews!!!GNR went on at 9.55 and played exactly 2 hours. If I could say one thing that disappointed me and that was Axl didnt talk very much. Didnt introduce the songs or say anything about anything really... Im thinking about scooting up to Chicago to see the show tommorow night too...GO PEOPLE !!... I'll always remeber the old band but this new band is ! rockerman
Axl was amazing really.. there were times that he exceeded the old songs vocal wise& he took them to a new level..... The sound was really good -there were some glitches in feedback and a couple of times that the mike cut out but other than that this was a very very strong show. I tried to pick it apart but couldn't. Other than the new band looking like a bunch of dorks MUSICALLY they rocked the house. Axl hit his pitches and put on one hell of a show! Before November Rain he did a Victor Borgia thing where he would tease the crowd. play a few lines Stop look at them funny and continue on. AWESOME SHOWMANSHIP(there ya go little witch) Not one bit of disappointment in this show. As I said Go it will be worth every penny of your money and then some! I heard that one of Axl's rings went flying off his hand and into the audience during "Think About You." Did you see this? Did he get the ring back? ... rockerman
Maybe that was what the scuffle was about. Axl was pointing from stage "saying there right there second row... then his big black bodyguard and the house security grabbed this fella.. At least it looked like they pulled him under the stage. I had binoculars but only caught the last part of it. I was really close. About the phone thing.. from what I hear thats how some of these bootlegs are getting done. When I went in I they asked me if I had a cell phone but I didnt however because I am a Dr. I could have kept it for emergency grrrrrrrrrrr I didnt even think about being able to bootleg via cell phone! So if anyone out there does have a Moline bootleg post it please. I would have like to hear more boos for Mix Mastermike I mean hey he tried but definitely Moline was "not da house yo yo check this out"'...if anything after about 10 minutes of that crap it all started to sound the same.People were there for Guns &F%#%& Roses . reaching for a crossover thing even if he was mixing hard rock just was useless and lame. Durning the GNR set up some fella walked in with a bunch of Mardi Gras beads.... now fellas that was entertainment!! the crowd would point to some chick she'd flash em some nipple/booty and get some beads.. good clean decadent fun. Even more entertaining was watching the drunk/stoned people trying to navigate around. I did a pupil check on one fella that had passed out and smacked his head on the metal barrier...we got him revived and ready to rock before GNR started. Just young and stupid.. like I was once upon a summer in 1987 sighhhhhhhhh.3/4 of the available seats were sold out. the seats in the nosebleed section were empty. Security was tighter than a .Axl was simply awesome......cant critisize him on this show and god knows I wanted to in the worst of ways. You people will be blown away by the stage and the performances/sound of these guys. Gotta say it... thought I wouldn't but i gotta.. close your eyes and just listen and seriously you notice how tight this group is.. and they stay faithful to the material. I wont say Slash who?? though. But most people wouldnt hear the difference. Patience was different... they added drums to it. Good twist to the song I was impressed.Knocken on Heavens Door was Jazzier so the jurys stll out on that take with me. I like that song raw and ragged. Awesome though musically brilliant. rockerman
Y a know Stupid Moron.. my friends and I said that same thing on the way home last night... ;D ;D The thing about his &&%^%# show was it was kind of like getting laid after a really long dry spell. My friend said yeagh like the Eddie Murphy thing.. so yeagh your right on with that comment... I wondered that too. Was it because it was GNR? or was it cause this show was tight?Ive been to hundred + shows and most of them sucked big time. County fair exhibitions nostolgic acts. Poison, Ratt, Motley Crue Dio, Scorpions, La Guns Lynard Skynard Journey Deep Purple ect... Bands going through the motions nothing" fresh" no new takes caught in the 70's and 80's no revolution no evolution stuck. This show had 3/4 Appetite for Destruction but it was alive... they played the f**k out of these songs and even added new twists on them. You walked out of this show going damn this was an EVENT..Like you had just witnessed something historic. when they swing back after the release of Chinese Democracy it will be hell to get decent tickets. ;D

PopcornAdler
Ok let me break it down for all of the real GNR fansDrove from Memphis, ten (9 hours) to see my favorite band and there are no exceptions for others to come even close. Well I was rockin the entire night, we had eighth row seats, but when the show started we went right to the front. I was my wife and I when I refer to "we." The show was kicking some fu@*ing ass and then came You could be Mine. Here is were this story gets interesting. He is about half way through the song when his ring flys off. You know how he sings with his hands well this was one of the times and his ring flew off. It landed right next to my wifes shoe. She bend down picked it up and put it on her finger. I was like holy sh*& she actually got something axl threw in the crowd and I got a look at it and it was a silver colored ring with clear stones on top. She was holding it up being very proud that she got the ring, as any of us would have been. Well 20 seconds later, the big no huge black dude comes and grabs her arm while Axl is yelling and pointing the entire time at her "right there, right next to you." Well he grabs her arm and forcers her hand open with some hostility. I got mad and after I realized that he was rude for handling the situation like that and besides I hate Indian givers. So I took my shirt off and started yelling at Axl and telling that You could be mine. Then the Huge black dude (not wearing the usually securities bouncers shirt, so I expect he was with GNR) and about six bouncers came and dragged Me, My wife, and Pete (this other dude) out of there. They told us that it was not there doing it was the bands request for us the escorted off the primes. It was not cool. He owes me and my wife First, a Thank you for giving the Ring Back. Second, An apology for not being a little more professional about the situation. And third our money back for the drive and the tickets. From the man who has GNR inked on his bodyAint it funny how everthing is roses when you hold onto your guns. It sounds like that was Earl Gabbidon who roughed you up. But I'm a bit confused -- I heard that the person who had the ring didn't want to give it back and there was quite a struggle to try and get it. Apparently Axl ranted through most of the song for Earl to intervene because the fan wasn't giving it up. Is this true? If so, then you can't really blame them for wanting to pull your a*ss out of there. If not -- and you happily handed over the ring -- then obviously someone overreacted big-time and an apology is in order. ... I got mad and after I realized that he was rude for handling the situation like that and besides I hate Indian giversSurely you're kidding. :Axl didn't give you his ring -- it fell off by accident. And the ring was obviously very special and personal to him. If you dropped your wallet on the floor and somebody else picked up, wouldn't you be upset if the person refused to give it back and then claimed that you ''gave'' it to them? PopcornAdler
Its like this, lets say a drummer, umm ok, Tommy Lee throws a set of drum sticks out in the crowd, you catch them. Do you: A) Immediately think I should give them back because he probably cannot afford anther set of these and he did not mean to throw them into the crowd.B) Hide them in you pants so no one sees that you have them.C) Hold them with all your life and be so proud that you caught one of your idols sticks.Any way, I have been looking at some other sites to find out what was going on during all this from another persons perspective and what happened after this drama occurred. PPL say that he threw the mike down and went back stage during the show because he was so pissed off that he lost his ring. Well I would like to let all of you know that he came out and finished, Without popcorn, > having a good time because of a honest southern girl who did not hide the ring and gave, no sorry, got her hand and arm grabbed and mugged from the Earl dude. And she put up no fight, just did not want her weeding ring to get ripped off. Ya think he could have had some chivalry about it and brought us back and stage where there was not so much commotion, but no he was Axl and made a scene. How I love the guy but show your loyal fans some respect. We must find a lead singer for "the project" Hmmm AXL

This was a ring. Do you really think he takes an expensive diamond-studded or semi-precious stone ring off his finger at every show and just tosses it into the crowd for laughs? If he did that every show, it would certainly become an expensive tour for him. You had to know it was an accident. .. PPL say that he threw the mike down and went back stage during the show because he was so pissed off that he lost his ring. How I love the guy but show your loyal fans some respect...From what I heard, he only sent Earl out to fetch the ring when the fan didn't voluntarily hand it over. Even you agreed that your wife ''got her hand and arm grabbed'' -- which tells me she wasn't handing it over voluntarily. If she had, perhaps they would have invited you backstage to express their thanks. Just my opinion.
PopcornAdler
No, I do not think that he throws rings into the crowds, but when one inherits an item from a band they are excited and when Earl (this very large guy that we have never seen) comes up and grabs her hand trying to take or steel what she fairly caught, My wife resisted. It was not until Axl was pointing and said right there, by then she had no choice, he had forced her hand open and snatched the ring. In the books of law in America we call that Battery and theft without given permission. Do you see where I am going with this? Yes it was not her ring but Earl had no right to handle a female or anybody in that fashion. She would of given the ring back and I could of Rocked out the rest of the show but he started it and Earl finished it. We were innocent victims caught in their crime.PopcornOne Bad Apple spoils a whole damn bunch
Mr_Sparkle
maybe the ring was special to him... maybe someone who he ccared about gave it to him... you should have given it back plain and simple... PopcornAdler
she did give it back. But my point was, if a stranger walked up and grabbed your hand would you just give it up, especially at a rock show, it could of been a guy from three rows back who saw her waving it around and wanted it. When axl said something she had released it. Once Axl got it back he was in a great mood and we were on the road back to Memphis, TN not at there for the rest of the concert. That is what is wrong with the picture.Peace
gnrlies
well i dont really know what happened, but this is my take on it...If the ring comes off accidently and someone catches it, then what is she supposed to do??? Is she supposed to walk out of the concert at take it to someone, or continue going on becuase theres nothing she can really do about it??I mean i dont know as i wasn't there, but either way you cant really blmae axl cos it was this earl guys treatment of her, not axl's
rockerman
From were I was just behind these people that Dude was huge and he was being a d*ck. When I turned my binoculars to the scuffle the black dude was pissed and being really aggressive. I did see something fly off of Axls hand but I thought it was like a guitar pick or something. I do agree big time with there being another solution... ASK FOR IT BACK. Invite them backstage to give it back.... instead of thinking that they meant to do him wrong. Just think how cool that would have been... LAdies and Gentlemen.. i just lost my ring on that last song and this lovely lady caught it........ rather than AXLS BEING A Pr*ck again........ Damn I hate to hear that I thought it was a guy trying to bootleg. I don't know if it merited getting kicked out all together or not. But as Axl just said.."You can have anything you want but you better not take it from me.." I guess he really meant it eh?
stab
in my opinion she definately should have known she should give it back (and maybe she did know) axl should have said something to indicate that he wanted the ring back via big-black-dood and not booted them out. id be weary about giving my heros ring to someone he may be less likely to get it back fromhail axl
holydiver
well... there are more human ways to get something back... there's no excuse for this .. i don't think the girl would resist if axl pleased her himself.. or even if the bodyguard asked nicely and waited until she took it off.. what kind of a behaviour is this to a fan that drove 9 hours and paid her precious money to see axl&co after 10 years ? popcorn i would give him the finger and leave by myself before they threw me out ... axl's always a bully ...
