DrPun
I remember seeing a show on MTV a few months back about the most expensive videos ever. There was a bunch of rap and hip hop crap on there of course but the Gunners had November Rain as the #10 most expensive video I believe, it's been a few months since I saw the show so the ranking might be wrong, but thats not my concern. My problem is that Estranged was not on the countdown. Anyone who has seen this huge production of a video knows, just by watching the effects and the props in this video, a huge tanker just for our boys, can see this was a monumental undertakng that cost millions of dollars. Even more expensive then November Rain. In November Rain I saw a church and a model as Axl's bride. I'm not bashing the November Rain video I'm just saying the Estranged video was a bigger production that cost a lot more money cause of the scope of it all. MTV wouldn't show the Estranged video in their expensive video countdown because the song wasn't as popular as some of the other videos on the countdown and November Rain. Personally I think Estranged is a better song than November Rain and the video should have gotten its recognition as being the epic music experience that it was. This just shows that the pop culture led by Mtv is horse S H I T. Thank You for letting me say my piece.Lazlow's V Rock in Vice rules!!!

spazprm
They should do the world's most expensive tours. I bet that GnR's 3 year world tour would be in the top 3.Random thought- Funny that I never hear any rap artists doing Stadium Tours, wonder why... Thank You for letting me say my piece.Lazlow's V Rock in Vice rules!!!Even if it was an expensive video, they put the "Making F-ing Videos" out to recoup the money spent on it, which never made it on to "Welcome to the Videos" for some weird reason. When it comes to videos. it's the director's vision and band consent. It sounds like the director listened to what the song was about and sat with Axl about the song... there's stuff in there that a casual fan wouldn't pick up on, about as much symbolism as the Sopranos finale. To me, the band had the money to do an "Apocalypse Now" level of video or videos, and it seemed like fun to them, because it was more like making a short film and prob. the only time they felt like movie stars. I'm sure if Estranged were made now, it would've been produced by James Cameron (prob. not directed by him but who knows) and shot in 3D. Those fucking dolphins would be jumping off the HDTV and in your face.
Use Your Delusion 1
I swear estranged cost $500,000 more than November Rain, oil tankers, amazing pro shot, huge sets, SWAT etc etc, and heavy use of a movie water tankhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_music_videosaccording to that November Rain ($1.5m) cost $2.5m less than Estranged ($4m)! Bards
One other point is that one of the major locations for Estranged was Axl's house, which he presumably let them shoot at for free.
star
Guns N'Roses - Estranged $4,000,000Guns N'Roses - November Rain $1,500,000At $7,000,000 the most expensive music video ever made is Scream by Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. The video is good. Why spend so much money making a video for such a (not so great - to be polite) song ?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOjdD4y4a-E&feature=relatedWiki - Most expensive music videosI also read:30 Seconds to Mars – “From Yesterday”$13 million? The first American music video to be shot entirely in the People’s Republic of China, this expensive music video has 30 Seconds to Mars transported to ancient China where they play for a child emperor. The video features more than 300 extras and was directed by Bartholomew Cubbins, an alias for actor and Mars frontman Jared Leto. However, the $13 million figure is disputed—is this the world’s most expensive music video? Edited November 7, 2011 by star
