damian 1200 Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) what does the disk cleanup and disk defragmenter do? It's supposed to delete unwanted files or something?I dont want to use it incase i delete any important files Edited July 12, 2005 by damian 1200 Quote
Max™ Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Run disk cleanup, and tick all the boxes except "Compress Old Files". Then it will clear out any rubbish on your system. It won't delete any important files. Then run the disk defragmenter, this 'tidies' up your hard drive by moving all the files together so they run more efficiently. When you run the defragmenter, DO NOT turn off the PC or run any other programs. Turning off the PC will just lose your data when the defragmenter is running. It is safe, however to stop it and close the defrag. Quote
