Are Greenday emo?

I think they are but everyone tries to convince me they aint. They do sorta convey emoness though I think.

They don't sound, look, act, or write lyrics that are emo in any way. "Good Riddance" and other 'depressing' ballads don't make them emo. Most good bands do have some depressing and sentimental songs...I see Emo in bands like Hot Hot Heat, Yellowcard, Hawthorne Heights, and all those new bands on MTV... not old guys like Greenday.
