johnezz Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I've heard of John Mayer, but not John Mayall Quote
MrBrownstone531 Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 He had a blues/rock band in the 60s called the Bluesbreakers. Clapton and Jack Bruce were in it before they formed Cream. It was also the breeding ground for the original Fleetwood Mac, and Mick Taylor played with the Bluesbreakers before he joined the Stones. Mayall's in his 70s now, but he's still making music. Quote

tryinharder Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I sat right in front of the guy when he played at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach years ago. He is a pretty fair picker for sure. It was a evening to remember. Many other times I'd cruize my bike to the back door of that place and check out different musicians because the door was always open on the side so the band could get some fresh ocean breezes on them. There are some really cool old guys out there. Quote

moreblack Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Page was just filling in on bass for a bit, I think they knew all along that he'd eventually take up the guitar in the Yardbirds. Hell, Beck probably knew more than anybody how good Jimmy Page was, they practically grew up together trading guitar licks at each other's houses.Bluesbreakers with EC are awesome. That album brought the Les Paul/Marshall combo to the public for the first time. And it was here that the whole "Clapton Is God" thing started, because of that "beano" album. Quote
AmyL Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 John Mayall is amazing if you are a blues rock fan check him out! And if your looking to learn guitar, he is a great one to listen too!!! He has done a lot of stuff over the years! Quote
