kevdo242
I bought The Wall a few days ago and I can't stop listening to it. I really like the idea of concept albums so does anyone know any other concept albums I could check out?

stevGNR666
i've written a concept album myself and i'm awaiting someone to put music to it ( i only have written 2 musical parts to it so far) and i found that i derived most of my ideas from the wall and tommy...my two favorites at the momentother favorite 'concept' albums are a nigt at the opera and the final cut
Super Mario
Dark Side Of The Moonfavorite concept album, as well as favorite album of all time.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Listened it 3 times today. By far the best concept album I've listened to, though I admit I haven't listened many of them. I love Pink Floyd.
stevGNR666
Dark Side Of The Moonfavorite concept album, as well as favorite album of all time.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>just my preferance, but i like concept albums with a cohesive story like the wall...musically though...dsotm is way better (as is wish you were here) than the wall

chicagocoma13
Spirit - 12 Dreams of Dr. SardonicusQueensryche - Operation Mindcrime<{POST_SNAPBACK}>SPIRIT !!!!! Great choice. I thought I was the only one on this forum who knew of this masterpiece. If I was on a desert island and could have only one album this would be it. This album was so ahead of its' time. A couple of faqs---Spirit founder Randy California was given his name by Jimi Hendrix. They met at a guitar store and Jimi was so impressed with Randy's playing he asked him to join his band. Randy was only like 15 at the time. He joined the band (I believe they were called the Red Roosters or Jimi and the Red Roosters) but he had to leave the band because Jimi was headed overseas and Randy's mother would not let him go at a tender age of 16. The rest is history. Led Zep were Spirit fans as they covered the Spirit song Fresh Garbage in their early sets. Legend has it that the "black box" Page used so much for sound effects was the one Randy used. Sadly Randy is no longer with us. While surfing in Hawaii, Randys' son got caught in an undercurrent. Randy went in the water and pushed his son to safety but then was swallowed himself. His body was never recovered---RIP
stevGNR666
stevGNR666:You're right dude. And in the end it's just a matter of prefference. But yeah, the wall does have an incredible depth to it. Great album, and imo a very worthy mention here. ps. Animals and Wish You Were Here are very worhty mentions as well.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> animals is my least favorite for some reason...it seems very hard to penetrate as a concept album since the words do not take the front stage as in the dark side and most of wish you were here so i think the meanings and feeling are lost in the mire of ingenius musicianship and layeringi'm not saying that it's at all an unlistenable album...but conceptually, it gets lost in my opinion more than the others...perhaps i should just go give it yet another listen

You're right that the style is a bit different from their other concept albums. But I must say I've also hear different interpretations of this one.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>thanks for the links!i really get the album and it's concept and have my own opinion of the nihilistically fightening lyrics, but that's not the criticism that i was expressing...i was noting the way it was put forth as an album and to the music
