abitestranged Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 (edited) Bucket does this really cool technique on the Nightrain Outro on the clip included at the bottom. I don't need the exact tabs, but I'm just looking for someone who knows the technique to enlighten me. I'm sure it uses finger tapping (atleast that's what I think)If anyone knows that technique and can explain it or show a link to some guitar site, that would be great!I've included the clip on both megaupload and yousendithttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=357Q9Q3Syousendithttp://s38.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1YS5REZ...IG2QUZR9M5GH3ROSantana, where you @? Pepeterry Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 i agree that is finger tapping but i dont have my guitar with me, so i would post later the tabs for it... i think the finger tapping moves through the guitar neck, and that effect is just a pedal effect, not a trick...i hope this would help u and when i grab my guitar at home i will explain it to you more widely... twistedthoughts Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 (edited) It just sounds like he's tapping between two strings (probably G and B) and sliding between notes with his fretting hand. Didn't seem like anything excessively special...Randy Rhoads did alot of that.Randy Rhoads was cool. Edited September 13, 2005 by twistedthoughts Quote
mr-fukaji Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 he does that better at madison square garden, its not tapping, or two handed tapping anyway because he's using a plectrum on the vidoe i watched about an hour ago, fuck knows. Quote

I never saw it! Quote
santana Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Yeah, I listened to it over and over and over, and he sure as hell isn't tapping. It sounds more like he's playing triads (three-note chords) but he's doing them INSANELY fast. I would like to see that video so I could check out his hands, because it sounds like he is using a pick, and his fingers to get that done. Like I said, it's faster than hell. Quote
santana Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 OK, I don't think he's playing as fast as I originally thought. I slowed the clip down, and it sounds like he's using a delay or something. I'm gonna look for the video and see exactly how he does it. Quote
quadlaser Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 sounds like simple tapping to me, probably all done on the b string Quote
santana Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 sounds like simple tapping to me, probably all done on the b string<{POST_SNAPBACK}>It's definitely not tapping. You can hear it... it almost sounds like it's arpeggiated. I think he might even have a slight ring modulator on it, which would "add" notes that aren't there, and give it a tapped sound. I tried to slow the clip down, but that only makes it sound worse. Quote
Pepeterry Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 could someone please upload the video!i think it would be more easier to get Quote

Pepeterry Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 he is just doing a normal picking but very quick. He is using a delay so that makes it seem that is more notes and it is quicker or something like that. Quote
twistedthoughts Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 After seeing that clip, I think he's just playing the G and B strings with fast alternate picking while changing chords and throwing a few bends in there. I wish I had my guitar with me. Quote
abitestranged Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 so is someone gonna elaborate on that technique? Quote
chris_ikhtak Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 First of all, that clip is from Albany And secondly, he is just speed picking those awesome notes he is playing. If anyone has this tab please post. I would also like to play this, especially the part all you guys are talking about where he is speed picking in the 17-20 frets area. Quote
Forsaken Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 sounds like simple tapping to me, probably all done on the b stringWhere does it sound like tapping? Quote
