eMule (p2p program)

Does eMule still work? I've been meaning to download it again but I can only get the installer. It 'installs' but it doesn't

Like, the program isn't there. I went to the 'official' website (there's like 2), and one says I need to pay, and in the other one I get the problem noted above. Might the paying factor be the cause of the program not installing or is it just not working?

Thanks.

This is the one AND ONLY official emule-page. It's of course free!! It's also available in english.

The one you have to pay for is a fuckin rip off of the original. Don't use it!!. It still works very well, but I suggest you inform yourself about the whole thing in their forums. There have been servers from the music industrie and people connected to them without knowing.

I'd be especially careful if using it in the US. They like to sue the shit out of people ;)

I've been hearing that a lot of p2p programs got Ciese and desiest (sp??) orders...not sure if that is true though. I know there was a thread about WinMX and that is where I read it.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Cease and Desist. Not that hard to spell.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Never had a single freakin' problem with that. Honestly.

Matter of picking the right program and installing it right.

It's also just the way people use it.

What is the benefit of putting spyware in open source software? Emule is open source.

There is no need for profit. It's...a combination of hobby with morals I suppose.

Kazaa, ok, spyware infested. But most open source software does NOT include spyware!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

you think that

As long as you know what you're downloading, then you shouldn't have to worry.

I am using DC++.....a great p2p program that works like a LAN.....you connect to hubs and therfrom to other users.....

I am in a (exlusive) network that gives me great speed(becouse I and everyone ells there has 4-10mbit...that's what makes it exlusive)......from there I can get everything I need.....I can download 7seasons of star trek in a week if I want (56gb).......

and I am getting lot's of free porn and games out of it.....and there is little spyware and shit there....mostly clean...

yes it works, you can find alot of gnr stuff there :D

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yeah, I know.

The thing is, I DLed it off the emule-project site. I can download the 'installer' but it doesn't really install the program when I install it  It says it does, but when I check theres nothing. Only the installer. Sorry, I suck at explaining shit.
