DVD Burning Help Needed

Recommended Posts

I have a "hp pavilion f1723" computer and a "philips dvd8421" dvd writer.

I have a film on my computer which is DivX

I am using "Nero Vision Express" to convert the files to VOB and then burn onto DVD+RW...

This all goes fine, but when I put the disc into my dvd player it says "data dvd error". I have 2 DVD players and they both say the same message, and they are both pretty new...

I can only burn onto DVD+RW, thats all my computer will work with.

I just noticed that my dvd writer didn't have a region selected, so I selected Region 2, so I'm gonna try again...

If it works with DVD+RW it should work with DVD+R.

Do your dvd players support DVD+RW? Many don't.

Do you have any DVD+R disks you can try?

DVD+RW just means that you have a DVD player with the ability to burn DVDs. You can use DVD+R or DVD-R discs in it -- as Rick said, most DVD players don't support RW (re-writeable, so you can re-use them) discs.

Are you actually burning them as movie DVDs and not Data DVDs? The region settings thing is a good idea to try too.
