Favourite Guitar Tones

Recommended Posts

What songs you think have some amazing guitar tones on them?

My favourite tones are:

Claptons on While my Guitar Gently Weeps (orgasimic tone)

The tone SRV gets from his No.1 Strat. (so in your face)

All Gilmour's tones really, but Young Lust has the best of his. (my favourite tone ever, it is the sex)

I love Strat tones so much, they are so expressive and dynamic.

Young Lust tone. Fuck that's the heaviest tone i've heard (Heavy sounding not "heavy uber metal lets see how many DS pedals we can chain together" heavy...) Dave gilmours tone is awsome

Next, Jimmy Page's tone. Another "Raw heavy" tone

Then it'd have to be Claptons "Woman" tone

Yeah i love it so much, it's basically a stock Strat on bridge pickup that has been EQ'd to round out the sound making it more "fat" yet still retain that strat sound. He runs it through many effects but the main effects he used in The Wall sessions were a Big Muff and Electric Mistress. Of course he had the whole rig running through three 100 Watt Hiwatt AMPs and one Mesa Boogie all cranked to deafening volumes.

I agree, Clapton's "woman" tone was amazing, soooooooooooo many people copied it, even Slash did lol.

Van halen - running with the devil is the best rythym guitar tone ever. Period.

I always loved bryan may's guitar tone, so smooth, and those vox's sound like sex :P With his delay pedal it was great, ie. brighton rock ;)

keith richard's tone in honky tonk woman, that is the grteatest riff + greatest blues tone ;)
