appetite for illusions
The new songs to me seem to be based on Led Zeppelin in my opinion. More of a Zeppelin like influance, where as the old songs had more of an Aerosmith like influance in them. Just my opinion.I get what you saying. It seems to me like that too. Not so much Aerosmith based music anymore.
J. Rose
Sounds like he's combining all elements of music from Metal/Rock to Hip Hop, modern day rock, some orchestra sounds, piano etc... The intro of T.W.A.T feels like someone is about to freestyle then the rock kicks in with a little bit of some harmonics and of course the piano. Can't wait to hear the whole album nonetheless, to hear his latest creation. bdinan
I.R.S. definately has a hip-hop beat to it, but it works for the song. I think the vocals and drums need to be stronger though. Its definately something different, but its not necessarily bad.
KBear
Sometimes less is more. It's cool to merge styles if it fits, but doing it for the sake of doing it, or so that you can say you did, isn't a good idea.I ain't commenting on TWAT or Better, since I've only heard IRS thus far, which unfortunately I'm not too fond of. I'm glad to hear most people think it's the weakest song though, that's a good sign. Edited February 20, 2006 by KBear
Kesseli
TWAT has a Hip Hop intro, kinda like a main menu to some game called GTA ... its pretty cool

EccoTides
Indeed, the hip-hop beats sound rad, and they really give the music more "oomph." I'm all for it, as I love how they're used in the intros to TWAT/IRS.
DirtyDeeds
It's not genius.... it's a drum machine.

*ParadiseCityGirl*
^I like the style...although when I first listened to TWAT, the beginning sounded like a gangster hip hop tune and I was like WTF?! ......And then the rock kicked in
OTHAFA
The hip hop garbage in the songs is terrible. That *BOOM BOOM CLAP* shit in T.W.A.T makes me want to pull my hair out.If I wanted to listen to Rap/Rock I'd buy a fuckin' Limp Bizkit CD. Stick to what you know, Axl. ironicninja
I'm glad it's just a small part of the songs, kind of the way U2 sometimes throws in some light electronic beats before the real drums kick in. It works Edited February 20, 2006 by ironicninja

ironicninja
I still havent heard Axl jump in and say "Yo, my name is Axl". When he does that, then maybe you can start being babys. Til then, get your panties outta there twist.I know...real hip-hop fans would not consider that to be anything close to hip-hop.
Robocop
funny how axl also likes to wear all that wigger clothes aswell.. jerseys..and all..but then again it is axl so it doesnt really matter, hes fuckin cool.

I could see him driving his ferarri with the windows down, seat all the way back with his right arm 12:00 on the steering wheel bumping his head to T.W.A.T. with the volume all the way up and the subwoofers exploding GANGSTA AXL! Mac Tonight
I don't care if Guns N' Roses covered the Charles in Charge theme and a Garth Brooks song. We've got new music, and I'm certainly not going to complain.
KBear
Gotta say, IRS is growing on me a bit. I'm still not loving the song...some of the vocals just don't sound that good (example, the intro before the first chorus)...but listening to it on headphones and listening to all that's going on I can say that Axl and Bucket really rip in parts. Get some real drums instead of this shitty fake sounding drum machine, the terrible hip hop beats, make some other tweaks, and, well, it's not all bad. tp4ever84
Later in the song (around the solo) the drum machine beat is gone which makes me think he changed the start of the song and Brain hadn't gotten to it yet.
