Alas, my crusade against Clapton is a lonely fight.I know you hate Clapton, infact do you like any British blues guitarists? My preference between Stevie and Eric shifts, atm, i like EC slightly better, (but that will proberly change back to Stevie once my copy of him live at the Elmo arrives. ) Sure he didn't play traditional blues, but thats why i like him, he shifted away and created a whole new genre of blues. His blues style is quite different from other blues guitarists, he was also highly inventive and is arguebly one of the most influentual guitarists of all time. He also puts alot of his emotion and feeling into his playing, and you can hear it, he's an honest guitarist. Also as a person he's an alround nice guy, humble person.I can't see why you dont like him.Now if you want an overrated guitarist, a certain mr Page proberly takes the cake. In my opinion, Eric's place is blazing trails in rock music, that's why I am a fan of Cream-Era Clapton. I detest Clapton personally as well, the way he pictures himself in classic Robert Johnson poses, the way he basically tries to embody everything the blues is. I don't really see him as all that original, I think he was at one time, but basically gave that up in favor of commercialism and what he calls his "blues mission", he wants to be the blues icon, and sadly he has achieved it. I do however enjoy Clapton's guitar playing, he is a fine guitarist.
