JeanGenie
All forms have their own vocabularies, Rock is the same way.yeah maybe but the quality of a songrwriter has nothing to do with the number of words he uses. and of course it might be their way to express things but for me the way you say something is very important and even if some Hip hop musician wrote the hip hop "Imagine" he would still remain an idiot for me as long as he doesn't use a proper way to say it. It's still art, no matter what the perspective is.
Maddergascar
50 Cent is to rap what def leppard and europe are to rock. One day he will be simply laughed at for epitomising the excess and commercialisation of modern hip hop. Every time i hear "Candy Shop" I feel like someone is hitting me around the head with a crude, blunt instrument.

I can assure you that you will find many musicologists that don't even see hip hop as music. Wagner might have had an antisemitic additude but he didn't use "The Flying Dutchman" to promote it. And that's the big difference between 50 cent and Wagner just one
life_247
haha seriously just wtf From a man who wrote a song "I smell pussy", gains songwriter of the year. Pathetic. 50 cent is a poor rapper who i believe is only famous from his notoriety, he mumbles his lines at a medicore pace and delievery without wit or satire.Best songwriter of last year has to have been Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) for his stunning double album im wide awake its morning/ digital ash in a digital urn

artfromtex
you give a guy who can't tell the difference between a bass clef and a treble clef the "songwriter of the year" award? music really is on the decline isn't it?support your local music scene to fight shiat like this! And that's the big difference between 50 cent and Wagner just oneHis operas often contained elements of anti-semitism.Blues music and Rock N' Roll have always had a misogynist bent, from Skip James all the way up to groups like Nickelback today.I am not promoting any of this, just saying it's there and has always been.
