Don't Cry has already been explained in numerous other threads..it's because Shannon Hoon died and he did backround vocals on the song and was a close friend of Axl and the band.

Civil War..I don't know why they haven't played that (or IF they have on this tour??)

It's an amazing song...

You obviously can't include every song from the entire catalogue on one setlist for a night...their's just not enough time. It's just a matter of choice from the band...they for sure have to include all the big hits, and some of the new ones, that leaves minimal space for all the remaining songs.

I wanna hear them do Locomotive and Coma rock3

Dont Cry was the 1st songs Guns N Roses wrote and it was created and played years before Hoon sang on it. It's sad that he died and he did good backup vocals on it, but thats no reason not to play it. The songlist chosen for the tour is nothing short of utterly safe and uneventful. There are all kinds of excuses for why other songs arent played, Im sure. Guns N Roses is thick on excuses and deception these days.

I agree..I mean it's thoughtful to kindof dedicate that to him or whatever...

But Don't Cry is one of my favorite GnR songs..,,,if not #1

I think they already broke that rule anyway, Bumblefoot includes it in his solo every once in a while, if not every show. Does that count?

Cival War

Yesterdays

dont cry

why not these are some of my favorites

Don't Cry won't be played other then Ron's solo. Axl's cousin (read they were cousins) Shannon Hoon died and that's the reason that they won't play it.

Yesterdays, I don't really know and someone said Dizzy played a lil' bit of Civil War duing the Chech show, but I've got the bootleg n' I can't find it, but then again it's in mp3 so that might be why. Too damn bad lossless hasn't surfaced yet.

I think that's a real dumb reason. It's not like they don't play It's So Easy anymore since West Arkeen died.

Yeah, that's basiclly what I thought. But, I didn't really care. I'm happy with the performances as they are.

It's a memorial to his Cousin who passed away. If West had been related to Axl they might have quit playing ISE also.

Ahh the old Axl and Shannon cousins thing.... Has Axl every confirmed this? as I always here different things about it.

I'm not sure if Axl confirmed it, but IIRC I read a very old interview online sometime in 98/99 with Shannon n' he said they're cousins. The interview wasn't from 98/99 I just came across it then.

Cool... I may have a dig around and try and find something when I get some spare time.

Guest Jungle Blood
cause the new guys cant fuckin play the tunes wasnt estranged one of axls finest moments i fuckin love this tune they cant play it because they are a fuckin piss poor tribute band now

of course thay can play it.

but the new guns n roses makes the old songs into new Gnr by adding their style etc etc.

it would be tasteless to play it though.

dude it is funny to me that guys on this sight bitch about the press being wrong when nobody here gets it right.

1) don't cry was the first song ever written by GNR. they were playing that live before they ever even recorded appetite. that song has nothing to do with shannon hoon other than his ass being lucky enough to sing backing on illusion and live a few times.

2) Shannon and Axl are only related in the fact that they are from Indiana. They have no blood relation.

I think that it's not for you to comment on what's a dumb reason and what isn't. Yet another example of people thinking they should be able to make decisions about another person's art.
