And who knows what's around the corner. The rap has been going on for a long ass time and I think it's exceeded it's '10 minutes of Fame'.Predictions as to what's next, anyone? Zint
zint61, don't you like Chuck Berry?Great point sweetness.Of course I like Chuck Berry, any real rock fan does..I don't consider him danceable pop if that is why you asked me that. It's been suggested in this thread that Chuck Berry didn't play pure rock and roll.Utter nonsense...Sure there were other influences in his brew...but don't kid yourselves,a black man playing rock and roll in the 50's was absolutely dangerous and volatile...and definitely pure.By today's standards his music sounds relatively tame, but in the 50's that music came straight from hell. This was an era of near lynchings for just TALKING to a white woman. His trademark dance was considered the devil's dance.Chuck Berry pioneered many of the guitar licks that have been borrowed and expanded on for decades since. He personified rock and roll in his lyrics...chicks,cars,angst.The guy was right there on the springboard! The back cover of Chuck's autobiography (which is a cool read) has a quote from John Lennon.."If you tried to give Rock and Roll another name,it would be Chuck Berry". Anagram Of Oral Sex
The rock scene needs a band that makes music like Children Of Bodom but tuned up to E or D# and a singer like ZP Theart from DragonForce and all guys in the band should have long hair and tight pantsI just saw Dragonforce live, and it was epic. kevdo242
Most bands these days are just trying to sound like someone else. We don't need another Gn'R, Led Zeppelin or whoever. We need something new and fresh. A good example of today's rock scene is Wolfmother. They're an alright band, but we've heard it all before. Its too generic. Then again, there are plenty of great rock bands going today such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Raconteurs and Muse.
SLAYER's CLAN
Rock needs insane guitar solos like fucking Iron Maiden and the intensity and speed in music. All that bands care today is pleasing the public, trying not to be offensive, making money and shit. FUCK THAT SHIT!!! The new wave of rock is coming from the underground. emo, screamo and hip pop will be gone and METAL will rule the fucking world!

rock chick
I think that rock music is losing it's edge now because of the way that many'rock' bands are marketed for the mainstream audience, they are not raw and real anymore and no-one seems to take any risks to be different

With these masters, Gn'R, and Aerosmith apparently recording something reminiscent of the 'Rocks' era, music could be saved by the old suspects.
