Jackamo!
It was a sound that changed sound, or something like that. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was a murderer and killed off all the pussy hair bands (for example: Poison) helped create a new sound, a new era, a thing called GRUNGE. It's dirty sound was not "Bittersweet" and it had nothing to do with "Angels" but had such a revolutionary impact that it help create it's own genre. It's anger rebelled and was definatley the bestsong of the 1990's.

Jackamo!
Bohemian Rhapsody is 'overrated' and 'overplayed' but is still questionable the greatest song of all time.

Idiot Wind
Bohemian Rhapsody is 'overrated' and 'overplayed' but is still questionable the greatest song of all time.Opinions are like assholes - everyone has one, and most of them stink.Smells Like Teen Spirit came about at the right time and was the right kind of song. But it hasn't aged very well and I've noticed particularly within the last few years Nirvana has started to pick up more heat. I think the reason is that all the teens who related to the music in the early '90s are in their late 20s and 30s now and the next generation doesn't find the music as appealing. In fact it's interesting because I think we're reverting backwards a bit - bands like GN'R are definitely going through a revival. I'm not just saying this because I'm a GN'R fan. I only began listening to GN'R a few years ago, and the reason is because the Greatest Hits CD was such a success and it was everywhere in the UK, so I gave it a listen and got hooked on the songs, then went out and bought all the other albums.I'm not saying Nirvana is losing all its fans - but I think now that the Nirvana generation is getting older, more people are starting to realize a LOT of their music isn't really that strong. It was more because of what Cobain stood for in the eyes of "repressed" teens. A good example of a band that wasn't musically great but became iconic because of what they represented.Best song of the '90s? I can name a bunch of songs that I'd elevate higher on any "best-of" list.

ScottRose
It's a great song, and fuck anyone who disses Nirvana or Kurt Cobain for merely being Nirvana and Kurt Cobain, and for his complicated relationship with Axl. You guys are losers.

Me Scandar
Well...musically, the song is shit. The intro riff has some credibility but imediatley losses all power when the singing starts, the bass is old and boring, the drums are somewhat acceptable and the singing is crap, come one anyone can imitate a scrapy one toned voice and sing like a depressed person. And lirically, come on, give me a break...this is no Pink Floyd kind of poetry or anything, its just random shit thrown around, anyone whose on crack and juana can write that kind of senseless gibberish. Seriously, I think teens adopted the song just to rebel, its like when you want to go the other way even if you know its the other way yo got to go only because all the other guys are going that way. Its boring people, face it, its one of those songs you can listen to for a few times and then throw in the trash can.
Spoon87
I would agree that it's the best song of the 90s just because of the facts the threadstarter gave, and I also really like the song, but I also agree that it's overplayed and musically not very advanced, there are way better Grunge songs.
