Guest Ohdistortedsmile1789
It pisses me off a whole lot, if there's anything far better:1. What is it?2. Where can I get it?3. Will it play all audio media types?
quadlaser
i dunno if the vlc player plays all kinds of audio, but it plays ALL kinds of video. and i mean all kinds. even shit that you're currently downloading.i imagine it plays all kinds of audio too. just do a search for "vlc media" on google

highvoltage
VLC is a good player, but doesn't support media libraries or anything like that. It's just a song-at-a-time thing, and it's features are very limited.ODS, do you have Media Player 9 or 10? I find WMP 10 to be pretty good, but if you have that and you're sick of it, your best bet is iTunes.
vicious
i use winamp and have no problems with it
New Rose
Yup, I find winamp much more better with sound quality. The equalizer is a little bit better, and I dont like that SRS Wave Bass sound whatever thing in WMP, plus the equalizer isnt as good.Winamp is much more easy to use, its simple. The Sandman
iTunes, IMHO, is one of the best and easiest.
Bromle
I use media player. Becouse it fits with my keyboard. So I can switch songs and shit when I'm in games etc.....(and I'm to lazy to match the keys to any other programs.) And with the K-lite kodec pack. You mainly got what you need. VLC is great on video. But weak on audio. Bad playlistoptions etc. Winamp is goodItunes is Okreal player is the work of the devil

It plays all audio and video types. Even video embedded in bin or cue files, so you don't have to mount the image, just play it using VLC.And the quality is better than WMP as well. Guest Ohdistortedsmile1789
I think I'll get winamp now, for some reason I forgot about this.
Anagram Of Oral Sex
Adding files to Windows media player is a pain in the ass, but other than that I like it.
LCG
Foobar2000 is also another option. It can play pretty much most audio files (including FLAC). It can be heavily customized using various plug-ins but it's known for not being noob friendly.
jack99
VLC just plays anything and no crap about codecs. Mediaplayer Classic has the RealAlternative and QuickTimeAlternative plugins to make it play .mov and .rm files. That way you won't need QuickTime and that horrible HORRIBLE RealOne Player. Winamp just rocks. Always has, always will. I like the control you have over what parts of the IDtags are shown and I like the search function (J) in large playlists.I have VLC only as backup player if there should be some videos I can't play in Windows Media Player. I use the new 11 BETA version which has some new features, very cool interface and an outstanding media library function. Check out some screenhots here.Username is absolutely right about Quicktime and Real Player, probalby the most annoying software ever made. Everyone should get the "Alternative" versions.I dig Winamp and use it too. Some time ago a bought an iPod but I hate iTunes so I downloaded this great plugin to play the iPod songs in Winamp. It's called ml_ipod and you can get it here.Winamp Rocks!

Guest Ohdistortedsmile1789
I have winamp, love it etc. But how do I get Windows Media to stop popping up as the default when I put a CD in? It's so slow.
worldwideboss
I have winamp, love it etc. But how do I get Windows Media to stop popping up as the default when I put a CD in? It's so slow.Go to tools, options/preferences (I'm not sure about the name, as I have it in Portuguese), then click on the "file types" tab (again, not sure about the name) and uncheck the box about playing music CD's.
