I can't really think of any Norwegian bands that keep the old national culture in their music, but there are a lot of good regular rock bands:

Turbonegro are kinda big, but they should be bigger! B) Also retired Span's debut album "Mass Distraction" is absolutely worth a listen:

Turbonegro - Don't Say Motherfucker, Motherfucker

Norway is also very weel known because of Black-Metal.. Check out Mayhem or Darkthrone if you are into such music..

Turbonegro...GREAT fuckin band!

The John Butler Trio are a talented Australian group who haven't really attained any worldwide recognition. They're a blues/roots band - fairly easy listening, and IMO they're pretty original. Really beautiful live shows too.

Songs i'd recommend are mainly their earlier ones, before they commericalised (to an extent) their music.

My personal favourites (my band covers these two as well):

- Betterman

- Take

And others i'd recommend:

- Treat Yo Mama

- Pickapart

They sound good. :o It would be cool if they came to London some time...though saying that, there's quite a lot of new bands around that sound similar to these guys.
